Assuming that Still is correct, and that the Supremes basically shut Mueller down, I’d like to see indictments for sedition to be spread around to members of the Deep State. Not only should the Supremes stop them, they should be jailed for life as a warning to anyone contemplating the same in the future. I’d personally prefer hanging, but sedition apparently only carries life in prison as a maximum sentence.

By the time it reaches SCOTUS, Trump may have 1 or 2 new Justices.

You’re giving tremendous credit to a supreme court that doesn’t even remotely deserve it.
All three branches want to increase their power and curtail the power of the other branches. No reason to think that’ll change with Roberts and his court.

Because the Mueller investigation is a gotcha trap with no legal foundation it will not survive a SCOTUS rectal.

I would like that,...although gallows ON the steps of the Building with the Dome would be even better!

I think having his nose rubbed in the law, like a naughty puppy that pooped in his own house, would be enough.

I would give it a minimum of six months....maybe even up to twelve months....to get this to the Supremes. I do agree with you...it’s very likely one judge will be replaced by the Fall, and maybe a second in early 2019. You might even see a third by summer of 2019.
In this case...the Supremes will ask for the memo that started all of this, and it’ll end up in public by that point. For some reason, I don’t see Sessions wanting to stick around to watch this. It might be enough to force him off into retirement.
To: McGavin999
Nope. I want all of the lawyers involved to be disbarred, at a minimum. If that was done, then we can talk about not charging them with sedition or the multitude of other crimes of which they are undoubtedly guilty.

I’d politely refuse to testify, wait for the subpoena and let the lawyers drag it through the courts. If the Supremes voted against me, I’d plead the fifth and make the courts fight it out. No sense giving them ammo.
To: Col Frank Slade
Still waiting on the Ginsburg rumors to hit mainstream. That would put the left down to 3 votes on SCOTUS and Sotomayor is not in good shape either.

There is a trap in this, too. If someone pleads the fifth, then they can be given immunity on the specifics of the topic on which they decline to testify (e.g. Russian 'collusion') - and then be compelled to testify. However, on a fishing expedition like Mueller is on, it's never the first topic that matters to him. He wants Trump to testify - with a limited and specific immunity - in the hopes that in the course of the testimony he will make a mistake on something he says. Then a new charge of perjury will be filed. Or obstruction of justice. Or some other 'process crime.' This is a particular risk for Trump because he tends to wander on his comments a lot.
Proof of this - if any is needed - is in the questions that were leaked. They were all 'how did you feel about this?' and 'what were you thinking when . . .?' questions that are intended to provide out-of-context quotes to imply obstruction of justice.
More than all of that, there is an important precedent that the president is not answerable to his own minions. If this were a prosecutor with a Congressional mandate (not a DOJ mandate), then he might have to answer, but not from his own subordinates. Congress can impeach and (if convicted) remove the president. His own administration cannot. So he needs to refuse to respond to the subpoena and force the Supreme Court to decide (if they would - and it's wrong but they just might) that the president is not the head of the executive branch.
Out of all this my favored outcome is for Rosenstein to be fired (not Mueller). It's Rosenstein's job to keep Mueller on track, and he's not doing it. The charter from Rosenstein is a direct violation of DOJ policy because there is no specific crime for the special counsel to pursue. It's all a fishing expedition looking for process crimes. Trump needs to absolutely refuse to play that game until and unless the Supreme Court decides otherwise (and maybe even then). I would refuse even if the Supreme Court said I had to testify, with the comment, "If you think I've done wrong, then recommend that Congress impeach and convict me."

Well, two branches.Congress continues to be determined to delegate its power to the Executive, just not this Executive. Most Congressional power has beenn given to Agencies and Bureaus who are responsible to the Executive, not to Congress.

SCOTUS will take it up on an expedited basis.
I think Trump is playing a slightly different game. When you make multi billion dollar deals for a living, you get pretty good at figuring out how to rattle your opponents.
Trumps been saying all along, yeah, sure, Id be happy to talk to Mueller. Now its, hey, lets get it all in writing, K?
Which leads Mueller to blast off about how HE will be the one to tell the President what to do.
Now, which one looks like the reasonable party?
The game plan:
Drag this out.
Keep Mueller off balance and frustrated.
Its already workingJQP is sick to death of Mueller. By the time the IGs report is released, the public will be *demanding* that Trump fire Mueller.
Adding fuel to the fireJW has demanded a full accounting, to further infuriate the taxpayers.
SCOTUS is never the first line of defense. Its the fall back play.

Trump holds the ultimate Trump card. He can always pardon himself for any make believe crimes Mueller wants to pretend he committed.
