Joy Reid deserves everyones support. The most destructive and insidious hacker in journalistic history is on the loose, ready to snatch another career. Reid, who hosts AM Joy on MSNBC, is somehow hanging onto hers. On Saturday morning she addressed the controversy relating to a stack of homophobic posts that piled up on her long-shuttered blog, the Reid Report. I genuinely do not believe I wrote those hateful things because they are completely alien to me. But I can definitely understand based on things I have tweeted and have written in the past why some people dont believe me, said Reid on AM Joy. Who are these disbelievers? What more evidence could they possibly demand to prove that Reid was wronged by some bad actor who spent years inventing a new form of hacking just to create the impression that she wrote a few more offensive things in the 2000s than she was willing to admit to? Isnt that what hackers do these days? When has anyone ever made up a claim about hacking anyway?

You nailed it. The author is mocking her.
I can only assume you didn’t read the article you posted... If you did, it’s possible your sarcasm detector was destroyed by the presence of this wit on the WP? I too am amazed it made it past the censors. Maybe they missed the sarcasm too?
It sounded like satire to me.
If circling and chanting “Burn the witch” counts as “rallying around” then sure, let’s rally ...
I suspect the headline may be ironic.
I'm not sure, though.
I'd have to read the article to find out.
The audacity and chutzpah of the apologists for this miserable collection of prejudices and relatively undefined spiteful thinking only underlines the basic coarseness of magical thinkers, who cannot or will not take responsibility for their own failings, and refuse to examine their personal flaws.
Joy Reid not only said these things, she honestly believed them as she was putting them down on paper. Excellent example of the Orwellian “doublethink”.
My first thought as well. Or the reporter truly is a blithering idiot. Both are possibilities.
This line sealed the deal for me. I did a double-take after reading it, and then knew the article had to be satire.
P.S. - I still say Joy looks like Michael Clarke Duncan in a wig.
Definitely satire, and it’s not the amused kind; it’s the smouldering-anger kind. This writer is not having it.
I wouldn’t P!ss on Her if She was on Fire.
Did I get caught in that trap again?
I read it as satire.....but these days you can never be sure. It is from the compost, after all.
You should read the comments at the site.
The liberals are having none of Reid's excuses.
Reid really stepped in it.
She could have said: "Yeah, I thought that 10 years ago, but I know better now. I'm truly sorry."
It wouldn't have looked so hot, but it would be honest.
She's gone too far down the rabbit hole to get absolution now.
If she comes clean, she'll be hated for lying and bringing in the Feds to investigate "hacking", which I think is still a crime, false reporting.
If she continues to dance around and make up $hit, she'll the the "poster girl" for fake, dishonest "news".
Not sure WHY MSNBC wants to die on this hill.
Reid is now poison to their brand.
When has anyone ever made up a claim about hacking anyway?
See Anthony Weiner, aka Carlos Danger
Plus they have Brokaw to worry about. Now the women who signed the letter of support for him say they were pressured to do so.
Scumbags always support other Scumbags.
The writer probably rallied around the Unabomber, probably the Tylenol poisoner too, and surely the hijackers of the planes that flew into the Twin Towers.
It was written by Simple Wimpleton. It’s the Washington Post, you known.
Absolutely. This is satire.
