When I lived in SoCal (many years ago) there was a Whataburger in a then rural part of Orange County—with no waiting time ever.
But—I am sure those days are over...still miss the burgers—haven’t had anything close since I moved back to the Northeast.
They always put way too much mustard on my burger at Fuddrucker’s...
I would prefer a dozen sliders any day.
There’s a reason why they have 2 people outside the parking lot taking orders now.
There are TWO in Panorama city within less than 5 miles and they are BOTH jampacked, which is crazy. If I had money and someone made me choose to buy a store between McD’s or In N Out, I will take In N Out hands down. It’s a money maker.
There are two: What-A-Burger, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
The other Whataburger based in San Antonio has some 728+ stores operating
in ten states.
In-N-Out has 329 stores operating in California Arizona Nevada Utah Texas Oregon.
>>Where I am, in Texas, with Whatabugers everywhere - why eat at In-N-Out?<<
b/c Whateverburgers are arguably the worst burgers ever. Paper thin sheets of tasteless eat byproducts at best. They just polish them with overwelming additions and sauces.
In-n-Out are the best chain burgers on the planet that don’t feature chili. For chiliburgers there is ONLY Tommys which sadly is still only in So Cal.
What makes me laugh when someone compares In N Out to any of these other burgers. They are half the cost of the other chains.
Lord, I miss Tommy’s. Not Tomy’s, or Tommies, Just the original. Especially the one on Roscoe at the the 405. Something about the Brewery across the street makes it better.
You obviously live in Fallujah or some other part of Krapistan. WAB has been in business longer and has more stores than IOB. And yes WAB does rotate their specials on the menu, not the basics, just the specials. If one has a favorite special, it will usually be available every few months. WAB obviously knows their customer base very well. That is called ‘marketing’.
I happen to have one of each store just a short distance away so I can personally vouch for this statement: If I wanted an IOB product, I could get one almost immediately. The reason: there is no one in the IOB store except employees. At WAB, there is a small wait as it is usually quite busy.

Holy moley! That is the one I used to go to when I lived in VN!!!
lol!
When it comes to burger chains, I prefer Fuddruckers.

Totally Agree. Fudds is another true original Texas based burger joint.
Like Whataburger.
Not like In N Out. Which is from Cally-fornie.
In-and-Out? Whataburger? Meh. Five Guys!

Five guys - like In N Out - is also now in Texas. At least they were the last time I checked. But whatever.
Nobody eats there. Why should they? We have Whataburgers!
I seconded that!!
We have What-a-burgers in Florida.................they are also in Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama...........
There are no In-N-Out franchises. They are all owned entirely by the company and the company is family owned.
It’s pretty cheap.
And most of all In-n-outs are right off the freeway.
I’ve graduated to 4x4s - three in past two weeks. Only wished I lived near one!
Back around 1970 my family ate at a Whataburger in Gainesville, FL. It was awful. In my travels I have not seen a Whataburger since then, so I don’t know if the current restaurants are part of the same chain, and if so, whether they have gotten my better.
