A false report of a tiger in the streets of New York has caused a social media frenzy.

People on Twitter described a notification from the Citizen app that said police were responding to unconfirmed reports of a loose tiger running around the street.

Four legs, runs, has claws, has stripes.

Tiger, raccoon...at this point what difference does it make?

Raccoon, tiger - it’s all the the same to NYCers.

Raccoon, raccoon, burning bright
In the cities of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine masked eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
How the hands dare seize and wash the little mouses?

All animals are tigers.

All guns are fully automatic military style AR-15s.

People in NYC aren’t exposed to wildlife other than rats and pigeons. They need to get to the zoo more often.

Even the most ignorant city dweller should know the difference between a tiger and a racoon...

Words fail me...

“Hold that tiger, hold that tiger....”

Oh, it was a raccoon? A cute, cuddly little raccoon?

Little piece of information, for future reference.

Raccoons are first cousins to wolverines.

I believe a wolverine, if confronted by a tiger, would make the tiger retreat. If a wolverine has possession of some kill, it will drive off a grizzly bear.
