Tiger went off the rails after his father died.
I found myself rooting for him. He is no longer as proud as he was and seems more personable.
I am a big golf fan, but, honestly, I could give a rat’s rear about Tiger. He’s had one heckuva career already, but it is no Greek tragedy if he is done. I know the networks want him back and in contention badly as that helps ratings. And his fellow pros like that too as it drives up purses. But he revealed himself as a total fraud, never was what one could call likable or admirable outside the ropes, and can now reap his just desserts. So with respect to Mr Woods, WGAS?
One might think he is the only player on the course....
Professional sports is littered with the carcasses of
has-beens. Tiger Woods is no Tom Brady.
“inspired by Tiger in his heyday.”
His peers call him Tiger. They call Jack Mr. Nicholas and Arnie, when he was alive, Mr. Palmer. They also call Gary Mr. Player. Two who do that are Lee Trevino and Jordan Spieth on national television in interviews. That’s respect.
Those three were instrumental in making the game such a lucrative financial success. All Tiger did was come in when the big three made it an opportunity of a lifetime for anyone that could play well enough. He WAS a great player. Now there are a number of players just like him that do him better than he does.

I’m totally pro-Tiger. He never complains, and always conforms to the norms and expectations of pro golf civility and protocol.
I’m glad he made the cut. I see Ian Poulter was on the cut line at +5, after his dramatic victory last week which qualified him, but I never saw him mentioned in the broadcast ( which I watched in replay. )
... so how about Patrick Reed? I’d love to see him win.
... and how about Sergio? I didn’t see him mentioned until the end of the broadcast, when they showed his score, and gave him due respect. I think he’s happy enough that he won last year.
You might as well call Babe Ruth a has-been!
( He retired from baseball in 1935 at age 40. )
I never did. I figured that he got all the attention due to MSM “affirmative action”, like Limbaugh alluded to in Donovan McNabb’s case.
That’s right. Golf has a genteel sensibility, and that suits me fine. There’s no more level playing field than Augusta National.
Re: The fawning way the media follows Tiger and Serena is obnoxious.
Massive media attention to Serena and Venus is pretty recent.
Although they dominated tennis the same way that Tiger dominated golf, Serena and Venus are physically unattractive, they have below average communication skills, and they have nothing interesting to talk about.
Just within the last year or two, white guilt media decided that Serena and Venus are beautiful and glamorous tennis icons.
That’s not obnoxious. That’s comedy.
Re: ...and how about Sergio?...I think hes happy enough that he won last year.
Masters History...
Jack Nicklaus was the first former Masters winner to miss the Masters cut in the next year. He won in 1966. Then, he missed the cut in 1967, after shooting a second round 79. Then, two months later, Nicklaus won the 1967 U.S. Open!
I was “surprised” that the news was saying that Tiger was coming back full-force for this and he was a top contender.
I was wondering what changed.
Looks like nothing.
No doubt Tiger is one of the greatest ever, but like Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa there shouldn’t be an asterisk next to his name. Zero doubt he was juicing. Flash forward 10 years and never have I seen an individual that the Media is so adamant about helping drag across the finish line short of Hildabeast Clinton.
“there should be an asterisk”
Dumb ass let surgeon’s operate on his back not once not twice but 4 times.
... so how about Patrick Reed? Id love to see him win.
Reed was named the most despised golfer on the tour by his peers one or two years back. He may have changed by now but he is not a charmer.
Elin came out OK, she got half his fortune and found herself a new billionaire boyfriend...........
Not bad for a little blonde who arrived in this country penniless and started out as a nanny for a PGA golfer......LOL!
Yep.
Tiger no longer has his steroid, bulked-up body.
The PGA began testing for PEDs after his last major victory and his body began breaking down to a more normal, slimmer version sans steroids.
