Bucket of rocks?

Posted on 03/27/2018 8:54:24 AM PDT by MNDude

I was just listening to Mike Gallagher on the radio. He said that one school official proposed providing every student in schools with a bucket of rocks in order to defend themselves in case of another school shooting. Gallagher said he thought this was a dumbest idea he's ever heard before. But then many callers started calling in telling him they thought it was a good idea.

Do you agree with Gallagher that this is a dumb idea, or do you think it might actually work? Your thoughts?

Wait until the kids start throwing rocks at each other. Then they will put the rocks behind a glass, to break in case of emergency.

BTW, was this school administrator aware of the news last month that Army Basic Training to Drop Hand Grenade Competency as Graduation Requirement because "getting recruits to pass it is taking 'too much time' and they’re just not strong enough."

"What we have found is it is taking far, far too much time. It's taking three to four times as much time ... just to qualify folks on the hand grenade course than we had designated so what is happening is it is taking away from other aspects of training.”

Plus, trainees just aren’t strong enough to throw the grenade far enough away – and simply can’t be taught to properly throw a grenade “if they haven’t thrown growing up” – Maj. Gen. Frost explained:

"We are finding that there are a large number of trainees that come in that quite frankly just physically don't have the capacity to throw a hand grenade 20 to 25 to 30 meters. In 10 weeks, we are on a 48-hour period; you are just not going to be able to teach someone how to throw if they haven't thrown growing up."

If the Army can't teach kids to throw a grenade, then how does this school official expect kids to throw rocks at a school shooter?

First, every rock would have to be tested to make sure there’s no asbestos in it.

We’ve evolved. Now it’s “You’re as dumb as a bucket of rocks.”

With all the gun protests, the interesting truth in this is rocks… while limited in capability to fight a mass shooter, does show this school by this action, understands the truth that some kind of armed resistance is necessary to stop attackers. Does it not? Also notice the STUDENTS and teachers themselves would be “armed”. #RustyIrony

So in the same vein...how ‘bout they place a loaded semi-auto carbine (.45 recommended) in each classroom, in a glass case just like the fire extinguisher... if the glass is broken a school wide alarm sounds. Electronic devices on the weapon track its position and track every round fired. Also students and teachers would be required to learn gun safety and operation. Could work, which is why it will probably be opposed!

I remember a certain armed robber was pulling stick-up at a local grocer. Suddenly it started raining canned goods from down the aisle and didn’t stop until the perp was a bloodied heap on the floor.

Rocks are an okay idea... especially since the libs obviously desire the mayhem to continue as evidenced by their sidestepping even the slightest of hardening measures pertaining to the physical security.

I don’t get why Gallagher was treating it as exclusive to anything else. Allowing trained teachers to carry? Good. Posting armed guards? Good. Giving each class a bucket of rocks? Good.

Will they be issuing each student a rock as they enter the school each day and requiring that the rocks be returned at the end of each school day? After all, we wouldn’t want students to be able to use school-issued rocks to commit acts of vandalism away from the campus during off-hours, would we?

Yes, I think relying on students wielding rocks to stop a shooter is a pretty stupid idea.

But, if that is the best/only option a given school system is willing to give as a means of self defense I guess it’s slightly better than nothing - and a rock is easier to fit in a clear backpack than a board with a nail in it...

No one has addressed it....He walked in the front door? Why aren’t the doors exit only while school is in session and monitored with a buzz me in button? A little biometrics might solve the problem..

How about each room having a designated kid like Kevin McAllister in Home Alone.
In the event of a school shooting, it would only take a couple hours to set up some really neat boobytraps!

Maybe the gun grabbers should ask themselves why Israeli kids don’t have to have buckets of rocks in their rooms.

"...throwing rocks..."

Throwing rocks in righteous anger is far, far, far better than cowering beneath a desk waiting to be executed by a maniac.
I am glad to see that people are slowly realizing that “waiting to be the next in a list of victims” is not the correct path to take.

Great idea.

1. Everyone: Throw rocks.
2. Everyone: Rush the shooter.
3. Everyone: Beat the living Cr*p out of him.

Every grade-school boy in North Dakota has a “Rock Buddy” in his pocket.

No violence there.

I wouldn’t dismiss the rock idea as a last resort. But at least two should be required in every desk or a compartment under it.

They should be preformed cement with some pointed areas, easy to grasp and throw, and some should be made to disintegrate on impact, putting up a cloud of dust in a perp’s eyes.thereshould be instruction to aim for the head if you have good aim.

I’d say that one good hit in the forehead from a high school student would, as the popo say, “end the threat”. With 30+ rocks in the air, this could be fairly certain even in a panic.

Get rid of gun free zones. Period.
We would not be discussing such idiocy if these laws were not in existence.
Have all the rock buckets you want, there would not be a problem because of the possiblity that a rock attack could be stopped by a armed individual also.

If the kids all threw their rocks at the same time it might be effective, but I would guess that most children (and adults as well), the first instinct would be to run.

To assume that rocks are a viable option to protect the innocent is unrealistic.
