Mass Deporting of Dreamers and Other "Illegals" Would Help No One and Hurt Everybody

Mass deportations of Dreamers and other illegal immigrants would be irrational because it would involve substantial economic cost without providing any economic benefit. The closest thing to a benefit the action would provide is that it would provide some happiness to those psychological misfits who are obsessed with obeying laws regardless of the consequences.

"Illegal" immigrants are fully integrated in the economy, The economy is partly dependent on their spending. If an epidemic or a military attack were to kill 10, million Americans the economic impact could be devastating. The deportation of a similar number of people would have the same effect. The money they spend in retail businesses affects the number of employees those businesses can employ. A reduction in consumer spending would force retailers to lay off people. Manufacturers of consumer goods, clothing and highly processed foods would have to cut production because of reduced demand. Layoffs at these firms and by retailers would further reduce demand. Local governments often depend on sales tax revenue that would fall if too many consumers were removed from the city.

Stock traders often over react to events that hurt businesses. They often act like a herd of nervous cattle and stampede if any thing threatens stock prices. When stock prices are high, traders begin to worry that prices are too high and they will jump at the first sign of a price drop. Obviously, traders would sell retail stocks if they knew retail sales would drop even if the anticipated drop would only be a few per cent. Sellers would try to get the best price possible, but if many wanted to sell, there could be a shortage of buyers which would mean a major drop in price.

Government could set up a procedure to determine whether individual immigrants are worthy of being allowed to stay. As with any group of people, some illegal immigrants are having a positive impact on our society and some are having a negative impact. The federal government should encourage those who are having a positive impact to stay to help replace the 10,000 baby boomers who retire every day.

Congress should discourage those who have a negative impact by imposing a mandatory ten year jail sentence on those who come here illegally and engage in violence, theft or sale of drugs before deporting them. Deporting them without a jail sentence would accomplish nothing because they would likely find a way to come back.

Congress could set up a point system for evaluation of immigrants. Those immigrants who are already here can be evaluated more easily than those who are still living in other countries Emphasis should be on families because those adults with families are inclined to want a good place for their families to live A family could earn points by being employed, learning English and participating in religious or civic organizations. Public safety jobs such as military or fire fighting would provide extra points. Children could earn points for the family by doing well in school including participating in extracurricular activities such as sports or music.

Many Americans have long believed that God helps the United States Those politicians who share this view should consider the possibility that God has helped the Dreamers and their families to avoid being caught and deported. Perhaps God has placed the Dreamers here to replace the babies who have been aborted.

Taxpayers have been investing $10,600 per student per year to educate the dreamers so they can eventually replace retiring workers. Deporting Dreamers would throw away that investment.

There is a popular myth that those who don't pay an income tax don't pay taxes. Income tax is only one of the taxes Americans pay. Those who are living in or visiting America pay visible taxes such as sales taxes along with hidden taxes Business owners sometimes point out that businesses don't pay taxes Their customers do The money a business pays in taxes ultimately comes from customers. The money employees pay in taxes also comes from customers Many of the customers who provide the money to cover business and employee taxes are here illegally.

“Kids used to be able to get menial jobs in high school.”

Yep. Waitressed like crazy, maid at Holiday Inn, factory work.

My oldest kid’s first job was at the N.I.H. He played basketball all day at work! As a parent I was p.o.ed. Wanted him to begin to understand better a work ethic.

Then he gotta a paid vacation day!!!!!! As a TAXPAYER I was livid and then some!!!! The taxpayer leach he worked for never returned my calls.

I firmly believe the ruling elites would rather rip this country to shreds than lose power.

One thing I can say about the hispanic families.. they get together every weekend and they celebrate holidays LOUD. When they are at Walmart, I see the father with the family... not just single moms. I do believe they do a good job of being family.

I don’t like the fact they come here and vote democrat ..
I know persons from Brazil who are doing it the legal way and it’s so difficult.. and so long... that is not right!!

Nope. I’m a real American. Work hard. Play by the rules. Served proudly. Love my wife and raised our kids. Don’t ask for handouts. Have always paid my own way.

RAH!

Be my guest! Calling those shitbirds “dreamers” is bullshit. Wetdreamers is more like it. They are screwups from the word, go.

A lot of them lie about their language ability.

A few years ago I was at our local police department filling out an accident report. In the next room there were 5 or 6 Asian males. One of them had physically assaulted his girlfriend and apparently hurt her enough to send her to the hospital. The perp claimed not to speak any English while he was being questioned. As soon as the cops left the room they all spoke fluent English - well at least fluent enough for me to understand all they were saying.

I agree. All should be deported. Of course it can be done. Turkey deported over a millions Armenians during early 20th century. Poland kicked out around 16 million Germans. Eisenhower deported maybe 3 million illegals and seems there was no huge uproar.

You are right, this describes Gore-Bull Warming perfectly:

California alone, would save tens of millions a year in the savings on AFDC claims, the drop in demand for school resources, the drop in traffic accident rates, the drop in murder and mayhem arrests and incarceration costs, the drop in property thefts and identity thefts, frivolous lawsuits, etc etc etc

I detest those stories. The man had 18 years to get a green card and either he didn’t care or he broke the law and couldn’t get one. In which case, he should have gone home. All of this is on the parent, but we’re supposed to feel guilty? His kids are our problem? Not a chance.

The writer needs to explain the economic impact of illegals using emergency rooms as primary care facilities.

And the disproportionate share of illegals among drug users/distributors; as well as their share of drunk driving, theft, rape, and all the rest (including, shall we say, identity theft)?

And all the societal costs of responding to those issues, rather than if they hadn't happened in the first place.

AND voter fraud.

I'd suggest we start stripping Democrats of their gun rights and their citizenship, and send them over to South Africa so they can demonstrate their perfect, transformational tolerance over there.

Or, North Korea would do, too.

Well, no.

An article that starts with false premises will bring about a false result.

You're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.

Deporting free loading moochers and arrogant, pugnacious, over-entitled border jumping criminals would sure help me and every other American taxpayer.

Yeah and getting rid of all laws would put cops/judges/lawyers out of business too.....the trickle down effect would have seriously bad impacts....

I agree; history has shown whole populations can be moved (and were). There is simply no political will to remove them; too many benefit from having them here (and I don’t mean average Americans). Many government workers would be unemployed if illegals didn’t fill the abandoned shells of former American settlements, and many retailers in those areas would close up shop if illegals didn’t shop there with our money.

Mexicans do this a lot also, but usually only do it when they are in trouble, like your example.

Getting interviewed by a reporter and not understanding the language is a different thing.

Not a problem. Since Liberals do visit this site, I just took the opportunity to tell them what is meant by the term. :-)
