After making history as the first woman of color to helm a $100 million-plus live-action film in A Wrinkle In Time, Ava DuVernay will continue to play in the event film sandbox. Shes closing a deal with Warner Bros and DC to direct a big-budget screen adaptation of The New Gods, the creation of revered comic book impresario Jack Kirby. The studio has set Kario Salem (Chasing Mavericks) as the writer; hell craft the narrative and work closely with DuVernay.

So, the reward for a director who makes an expensive and terrible movie is being immediately hired to direct an even more expensive, but no doubt still terrible, movie.

Out of the entire sea of DC and Marvel comics, I reached out and picked the one gem on either side. In all modesty, I really have to pat myself on the back for this, as, after 40 years, the entire rest of the world catches up to me. Yea Me!!
"Wrinkle" is Disney, and is to what the author referred in "first woman of color to helm a $100 million-plus live-action film." After production and promotion, the film will likely lose a bundle.
"The deities inhabit two planets: one is New Genesis, a lush paradise, and the other Apokolips, which sounds like Dantes version of hell. War ensues. There is a rich universe of extraordinary characters for DuVernay to play with here."
Another potential fail like Suicide Squad where they try to introduce too many characters too soon.
Oh, she’ll F it up for sure. Chock full of social messages. Enough to ruin it. I still stand up for Suicide Squad. I got about half a crush on Harley Quinn. The CGI kinda sucked, though. I’ve always been a Marvel guy.
