I like Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator as Commodus

and

Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner at Roy Batty

but I'm sure I have others if I really pondered it.

Speaking of The Devil, you cannot beat Walter Huston as “Old Scratch” in “The Devil and Daniel Webster.” What a delicious film.

Not only is Old Scratch evil, but he gets poor farmer Jabez Stone to sell him his soul. On a day of particularly bad luck, Jabez curses and says that he would sell his soul to the devil to have a better life; immediately after the the devil appears posing as a man named Mr. Scratch and offers seven years of good fortune and money to Jabez for his soul and the farmer signs the contract. Then things turn bleak. There are two bad guys, Old Scratch and Jabez Stone.

“Liberty Valence” played by Lee Marvin with John Wayne in the film, “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence.”

Valence was one mean dude.

I LOVED that show! :-)

He played a Columboesque detective in PENELOPE,long before he played Colunbo on T.V. and it's a very cute movie.

Try to see him in ALL THE MARBLES; it's a fantastic, sort of offbeat movie!

I prefer Hopkins in LION IN WINTER; bad, cruel, venal, and just plain old EVIL as a young Richard the Lionheart. :-)
