When Black Panther made its record-smashing $201 million start last month, it was expected that it would easily keep the No. 1 spot at the box office until Disney released its next film, Ava DuVernays A Wrinkle in Time. But as the adaptation of Madeleine LEngles famous science fantasy novel gets ready to enter theaters on 3,980 screens this weekend, that expectation may have been premature.
When tracking for A Wrinkle in Time first came out three weeks ago, opening weekend estimates were set at approximately $35 million against a production budget of at least $103 million, according to California Film Commission reports. Despite Disneys usually intense marketing campaign which included TV and digital spots throughout NBCs Winter Olympics coverage, tracking has remained stuck in the mid-30 range.

Yes, and with Oprah Winfrey, an odd choice.
Great book. But I don’t need to see black people save the world. Again.
Eww, holy crap! Tesseract with a commie?? That ain’t happening. Hell, Camazotz was basically collectivism taken to the extreme. If Oprah took you there, it would be because she was recruiting, not because she wanted your help to fix the joint.
It is a great book, worse than the racial pandering and Oprah, is the removal of Christianity from the book, and the dumbing down of content because it is too advanced for today’s uneducated youth.
lol.. exactly!
No Thanks....1. It has oprah w in it - can’t watch 2. It is a disney - won’t watch or voluntarily contribute any of my money towards this company.
The original book was pro-Christian, anti-socialist, and anti-authoritarian. Disney now brings us the Oprah version. I hope they’ll forgive me a certain lack of confidence.
Okrah’s in it...wouldn’t watch anything she’s in.
Will the movie starring The Oprah bomb?
Me thinks so.
Way too dated a book to attract YA audience.
I can’t bear watching a film where Oprah has such a large role.
Not so odd, she put up the money for it.
I might or might not go to see it. It does not seem to be in the spirit of the book.
Another total DOG from the PC Disney RAT. I can’t wait for so-low to utterly fail at the box office after the PC, train wreck mess that was “The Last Jedi”.
I’ll pass.
Can’t stand Oprah’s commercial for Weight Watchers. “Oh, Stephanie, I hear you! Oh, Britney, girl!” Totally pandering to white chicks.
It is silly. Makes me want to ask them when they are going to graduate from high school.
But Oprah is silly which is why I am not sure I want to see a movie she influenced.
I did love the book series.
I think I saw this movie back in 2003, 15 years ago, when it first came out. I know the plot and I know the ending.........No sense in watching it again.........Epic fail!
Yep, the PC is strong with this one...
