My son has “behavioral problems”, ADHD, Anxiety, ODD, maybe more. Spanking doesn’t work. He doesn’t respond to it, just makes him more angry. Grounding has no effect and loss of privileges has no effect on his behavior. He lacks all self control. Therapies, medications and the like have modified his behavior but not really changed it.
It’s hard to deal with everyday. We don’t go out very much because of his behavior and are basically prisoners to it.
If it’s hard on us, his parents, how do you think he must feel inside? For a board that talks a lot about Christ’s mercy and Christian values, I see little empathy or mercy here lately. He needs prayers and so do his parents. If you’re the praying type, please have at it.
Jim

Jim Pelosi,

If your wife’s name is Nancy, we understand your predicament and pray for you and your wife.

Blessings

How old is your son?? Are there schools or camps he can go to learn different behavior?? I’m sorry for your troubles...I’ve seen the damage a child like that can do to a family...

When my son was a behavioral problem, we didn’t go out. If we couldn’t control him, he stayed home. Eventually, he figured out that he could only go out if he behaved. If he misbehaved, I literally hauled him out and took him home, screaming and all.

The problem is that the child tries to figure out how to control the parents and the parents try to pretend it isn’t happening. It’s a battle that I had to win.

He’s an Accounting major. He’s the school’s problem now.

Dad, have you looked into a complete allergy diagnosis? Some of the food allergies greatly affect behavior, as do some of the environmental substances. Not saying it is THE answer, but it might be part of an answer. Worked for our family when we had a hyperactive one. One of the culprits was milk!

It’s impossible to comment just on all that

Does your child fear you.?

I have five from 11-29

Several needing whipping

One needed severe whipping or it woulda been Lord of the Flies at my house

We survived

I feared my dads wrath.....

I have seen kids I felt needed tranquilizers which is what Ritalin does.....it slows them down since they run naturally at such high rpm

And I’ve seen Autistic and Aspergers that only meds could control despite firm parental hand

I know it’s hard....my empathy
