Whites going to this movie to be “seen by blacks” are likely to get a nasty surprize. I would not be surprised to hear of many fights in the theatres.

Ages ago, I watched Coming to America in a theater in east Austin Texas. I think I was one of maybe a dozen whites in the entire theater. Watching the other people's actions was funnier than the movie! I remember one particular large woman that would run up and down the aisle laughing every time something funny happened in the movie.

I don't follow these things closely. I don't denigrate those who do, it just isn't my thing.

All I know is that he was not part of the movies until CA:CW. Now he is the biggest thing ever. It seems forced.

I don't think they learned a thing from the Ghostbusters for Girlz debacle. We will see how this goes. If it is a great film, it should do well. I just don't see how it could possibly live up to the hype.

I will just say that in my experience it is not a good idea to be white amongst a large majority of AAs.

I am getting a Ghostbusters vibe off Black Panther.

They are spending FAR too much effort promoting it. I get the impression they are worried. If they weren't worried, they would just let it open on Friday, and let word-of-mouth carry it.

The pattern with movies that they are SURE will be hits, is to let it open on Wednesday, have the most enthused see it then, and thus promote how great it is to their friends, thus ensuring momentum for the weekend.

At my local theater, Saturday they have just 2 screenings in 3D, plus 3 screenings in regular. For anticipated blockbusters, you would expect more screenings, in a multiple-screen theater.

True that.

Eh ... I wouldn't call him "biggest thing ever" but the character is pretty badass, IMO. I like how they've portrayed the character in the movie. We'll see if it lives up to the hype. Personally, I'm looking forward to the next Deadpool movie more than this one.

The thing is general audiences haven’t seen the picture and critics would not dare give the picture a bad review, so we will see.

I’m not going to see it. I got tired of super hero movies over 15 years ago.

None of my money will be in that total.

I skipped Doctor Strange. I will skip Black Panther. Never had a interest in him. He never had a great rogue’s gallery when I read in the 80s except for Klaw.
