The forecast keeps getting better and better for Disney and Marvel Studios' Black Panther, which opens in North America on Friday. Hollywood's leading tracking service, NRG, on Monday revised its opening weekend estimate to $165 million or more, according to sources with access to tracking. That's for the four-day Presidents Day weekend.

Seriously?
All indications are that this will be (yet another) big hit for Disney/Marvel.
How in the world can they estimate how many people are going to see a movie???????
Well, if it’s box office fraud the enemedia will never report it.
Advance ticket sales. Might be legit. And it also might be that box office fraud ain’t just a problem in China.
I am getting a Ghostbusters vibe off Black Panther. Im woke enough. I dont need a course in Remedial Wokeness from Hollywood (Paragons of Virtue, all!)
I was scarcely aware that this character existed before Captain America: Civil War. Now, apparently, he is the most important character in the Marvel Universe.
I got a bad feeling about this...
Will Stan Lee do his traditional cameo in blackface?
Interesting that NRG wasn’t quoted directly...

Because they’ve done nothing for the past few weeks except hype this stupid movie.
This sounds like a campaign to get people to the theater. It will get the same audience as Shaft and Blackuka.
Funny. My new system of DVRs has every DVR in the house recording recording everything in the house to a cloud somewhere. Really only 2 people in the House record. My wife and myself. For about a month there has been an accumulation of this Gianni Versace bullcrap. I assumed the wife wanted to watch it. I said were running out of room. She asked about the Versace recordings. Not mine I said. Not mine she said.
I believe the cable company put it there to get popularity on a gay fiasco.
When I went to modify a recording it was not there. But when I went to check the Scheduled list it had it set to record. I erased it and all future recording but who knows it might show up again.
Just major league bullcrap
I’ll never pay money to see it.
A lot of whites will go see it for two reasons, white guilt (it got Obama elected) and to be seen by blacks at the theater so as to make themselves feel like they are down for the struggle. Seriously, I have been a Marvel fan for about 60 years and Black Panther was never even a B list player in the Marvel world. At least they did not turn another one of my favorites from a white guy to black, like they did with Nick Fury. Anyway, I wont be standing in line, paying outragous money for popcorn, and then spend two hours being aggravated by cell phone screens, constant talkers, or that lady who laughs out loud at everything even if it is not funny. It will be free on Netflix in a couple months.

How will they be able to hear the movie?

Whites going to this movie to be “seen by blacks” are likely to get a nasty surprize. I would not be surprised to hear of many fights in the theatres.
The TBP may have a big opening in the US largely due to turnout by black audiences, but I expect the international numbers will be very low.
It’s a fraud. They are trying to create the “band wagon” effect..ie everyone is seeing it.
I’ll stick with Pink Panther.
I’ve seen the trailers....it actually looks pretty decent special effects wise. A lot of foreign actors and accents...it looks like a pretty decent action flick with great special effects. Black Panther has been around off and on since I first saw a comic of it in the late 70’s.
Psst, Wakanda is real and they started the slave trade.
