Western Europes last naturally caused famine ended 150 years ago this winter. In a poor and backward part of the Russian empire called Finland, more than a quarter of a million people nearly 10% of the population starved to death.

It was also the third wealthiest, the third least corrupt, the second most socially progressive and the third most socially just.

I’ve never had a single thought about Finns, but my respect for them just shot up a hundred-fold.
As I type, I’m sitting in front of two 1,500 watt electric heaters in my garage, which is a balmy 27 degrees.
Us SoCal natives have nothing on those guys. Hell, most of us can’t even throat sing!

Small population that mostly lives in cities and is very homogeneous
There are areas of the US that would fit the bill nicely but arent considered because they are not a stand alone nation
Plus Finland is hardly a world power. They survive by being a remote location of no interest to anyone

Oh yes, and Finns massacring Russians by the thousands during the 1939-40 Soviet invasion. They’ll turn back the muzzie tide if anyone can.
LOL! Thanks for that! Love the singing! Very different!
except the Russians because of their port
They have great gun laws too!
Isn’t that just like every other Liberal, especially our own politicians, that say one thing in campaign and stump speeches, IE Schumer & his immigration ideas, and then change tacts to appease a desired voting or support bloc
