I saw a little of the obamas.... did you notice baraco held his head in that superior manner... and he’s thin.. looked older and not well....
She was gracious to the audience... she put on a good talk... but if the audience had been white, the charm would have turned cold.
SO glad they are past tense.

Doesn’t even look like her. Just a random lady. But moochelle is no lady.

My first reaction was to think this was a portrait of a white or light skinned hispanic person. And the hair does not look at all like a black woman’s hair - it isn’t even black, but rather more reddish. I would honestly believe this was a white woman in the protrait, if I didn’t know better. Gone are so many of the features that make Michele a black woman. This is just weird to me.

That is a GREAT Picasso story! Thanks!
Don’t know much about art (not sure even what I like), but Kahlo was a staunch communist. So much Picasso is odd. If one has to know either the artist or his history to understand the art (think that goes for movies, music, sculpture), it is probably too esoteric.

Her only drawback, not taking no for an answer during a heat.

From what I have heard of him, he sounds like he thought that if he pooped on a canvas, his clientele would scramble to buy it, and pay top dollar for it.
He was probably right.

The quilt she’s wearing is meant to keep people’s eyes from the supposed subject of the portrait. Can’t blame the “artist” for that.

Not terrible, the artist is blind correct?
To: buwaya
You’re right - it doesn’t look like her. Her features are much more subtle in the painting. It’s really a bad painting - quality in terms of quality. Where are the great artists in the world?

The dress stands out, making the person (Moochelle) appear to be background.
I would not be surprised to see a do-over or replacement ‘official portrait’ in the future.

Good Lord, it's just artless and tasteless. Besides being very poorly and amateurishly painted, it doesn't even pretend to evoke any visual similarity to Michelle Obama. It really does look like a high school art project. I just read the NYT article about it, and, amidst all the predictable NYT fawning, is this revelation about the "artist": "Ms. Sherald, who until a few years ago made her living waiting tables, oversees a studio staff of one, herself." Yep, sounds about right.
