Kelsey Grammer was gracious enough to let his co-stars steal most of the scenes from him. It was a great show for it.

I have to go with the ski lodge episode as the best single example of farce on American television. Perfect writing, acting, and directing. The Las Vegas hotel episode of Modern Family is very similar, and comes in a close second for me.

I loved that scene. Loved it. So many good scenes. He was priceless.

I do not understand the ads for the show when it’s on lifetime. I think the show is plenty sexy and fun, why would all the ads be for catheters and help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up? My millennial kids love it too. It’s a damn good show.

I also remember he was quite ill many years ago, I think I saw David Hyde Pierce on a show, mentioning he was under the weather. I’m glad Maloney is no longer suffering. And I’m grateful for all the comedy he left us. So talented.

Hey, does anyone remember the one episode where he got to show off his song and dance abilities (which were pretty good)?? Hint: it was in a dream segment...

I always thought the best ones on Frazier were Niles, Martin and Roz.

Throw in Kelsey and Jane and you have one of the greatest comedic ensembles ever.

Omg, where have you been with that awesome screen name!!? I’ve never seen you.... Ha Ha Ha but for real, I’ve never seen ‘you’ around FR.

Great character, great handling of her.

I love the one where Niles finds out how her rich family made all that money, it wasn’t whatever she said it was. It was Urinal Cakes.

Fantastic line. Love that scene.

We literally watch this show 3-5 x a week, sometimes just letting the episodes run one after another on Hulu. I’m talking family members from ages 13 to 85. It is a good good show. Nothing like it in comedy since.

Some of the episodes are straight out of Moliere. And I know a lot of those writers HAD to be English majors, and studied French. It’s like it was written for people who lived all that stuff. I remember when it started as a summer replacement, the summer I came back to the US and was trying to get a divorce. Thursday nights watching Frasier (I think it was Thursday) with my mom was a nice moment in my troubled weeks.

Yes, Maloney was always helping Leeves with her accent at first. Later seasons, she didn’t bother with it much. Lol.

Look. Every man except Kelsey was gay on that show, and many of the writers as well. AND IT IS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS EVER MADE. So who cares who they slept with?

Definitely. I think Kelsey did a great job. I absolutely adore the one time in 11 years where he broke character like a Bob Hope.

His old flame the children’s tv hostess was in his kitchen, whining to him about her long career: “Do you have any idea what it is like, playing the SAME CHARACTER for twenty years??”

Kelsey looks straight at the camera with one of his best wry looks. And the scene moves on. GENIUS.

Awe. Sorry to not know of the song and dance routine you remember. I liked him so much.

RIP

Do you remember the episode where they are at their vacation cottage and Daphne is pregnant, and they all have weird dreams about the baby and each other? Dad’s dream involved a Busby Berkeley like dance number on a stage with him in a tux, gorgeous show girls around him. I bet he loved doing that one.

TV ads in general are pretty pathetic. The ads on Cozi TV and MeTv and other such channels all seem to blend similarly, too.

That’s sad to hear. Everything I ever saw him in, I thought he did a good job, Frasier included.

“He was actually a gay actor from Manchester, England with a heavy accent. He OWNED that tough sweet American wounded cop role. So well done. His accent was so good most people don’t know he was British. Absolutely amazing.”

He lost his accent decades ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LPAr2Ke12I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Acgxt9Ww0M

As the Hollywood Reporter pointed out: “He studied at Quincy University and, to speed up his citizenship application, enlisted in the U.S. Army and, not surprisingly, lost his British accent.”

Mr. Mahoney was also in at least one episode of Cheers.

I don’t post a great deal, but I am an avid lurker.

I’ve been a poster for a couple of years and I do recognize you. I enjoy your posts.

I always thought Roz reminded me of me, without the promiscuity.

Thanks for your comments.

You are remembering the ones I find so great, too.
And Kelsey directed many of them in the later years. It was funny seeing that Julia making fun of him and being nasty to him and then I say to my daughter, and Kelsey directed. Always a laugh.

One of the writers, Bob Hanning, does some producing and writing on Hawaii Five O. Those episodes are pretty good.
