The greatest American speech of the century.
There are two stories of America. One is the American story and the other the un-American story.
On one side there are pilgrims settling a new land and on the other colonists ethnically cleansing the native population. One side sees war heroes and the other sees killers. One sees brave police officers and the other genocidal bigots in uniform. One sees America. And the other hates it.
At the State of the Union, we saw those two halves divide up the House Chamber. We saw American elected officials stand for the flag, for the anthem, for veterans, for Jerusalem and for In God We Trust. And we saw the un-American officials selected by corrupt urban machine politics stay seated.
The leaders of America and un-America were there in one room while America’s story was told.
We saw heroes rise in the House Chamber and we saw the Congressional Black Caucus members in kente cloth scowling through the good news about African-American unemployment. Rep. Pelosi grimaced and Senator Schumer glared through President Trump’s appeal for bipartisanship. Senator Booker stared hatefully and Elizabeth Warren ranted hysterically on Twitter.
The Democrats and the media called the speech divisive. And it was. But not in the way they meant.
There was little in the way of partisanship in President Trump’s remarks. They were meant to unite the men and women in the House Chamber “not as Republicans or Democrats, but as representatives of the people”. Even his tough talk on immigration came with offers of a negotiated compromise.
The New American Moment laid out a “clear vision and a righteous mission -- to make America great again for all Americans”. But not everyone who happens to live in America wants it to be great.

I thought he did a good job. A little too willing to compromise with the dems on illegals, but that may be one of his negotiating tactics. He’ll drive a hard bargain when the time comes. Not happy with the for government child care.
All of my adult life this country has been heading in the wrong direction and the evil people have had their way. No, as it turns to go in the right direction, those same people are acting like we are on the Titanic. They are determined we hit the iceberg. Insanity.

What a treat: a great writer, distilling the great words of a great person and great leader as a keepsake reminder of the great speech we all shared last night!
I'm keeping Greenfield's article, because I anticipate that I and many others will need to review our President's uplifting words in coming weeks -- as we slog through the sordid task of watching the previous crimes of the anti-American left being rectified.

Well, folks, this is your choice for ‘18. A guy who loves America and the men and women who will have to support him to get reelected or the America haters who glared at the cameras looking as ugly as the left side of the Senate during the French Revolution. The “black caucus” disgraced itself last night as they’ve never done before.
Americans who vote for ‘Rats deserve get exactly what they deserve.

This is the point I often try to make although not as elegantly as Mr. Greenfield. The left HATES America. They hate everything about it starting from the Voyage of Columbus to the present day. Every event that has happened here is viewed from a negative perspective. I’m glad that it is becoming more obvious every day and wish that more commentators, columnists, and politicians would point out RAT hatred for their own country.
