‘Breaking Bad’ fans flock to Los Pollos Hermanos to commemorate show

A decade after its 2008 premiere, “Breaking Bad” still has plenty of fans.

Hundreds showed up at the Twisters on Isleta Boulevard on Saturday, which was briefly transformed into “Los Pollos Hermanos,” the fictional fast food eatery in the show, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the show’s debut.

“This was all for the fans,” said Marq Smith, one of the founders of the Better Call Saul Three Strikes fan club, which organized the event.

Smith and club co-founder Edward Candelaria were dressed as the mascots of the fictional business, the Chicken Brothers, and a long line of fans waited to be photographed with the pair.

The restaurant, the same location the show was filmed at, and its parking lot were packed with people and cars, with most wearing their favorite “Breaking Bad” gear.

Twisters director of operations Joe Barraza said more than 1,000 people had showed up to the restaurant by 11:30 in the morning.

The staff were fully decked out in Los Pollos Hermanos aprons and visors.

Trump was still doing Reality TV when this started. How can you possibly attribute anything politically negative about the show.

Whatever it is that is binding your ass, you might want to look at untightening it.

A couple of months ago I stopped for gas in Moriarty, a town on I-40 east of ABQ. At the next pump there was a young couple from Massachusetts driving a new Penske rental van and towing a trailer with a Jeep Wrangler. The lady went to get some belongings out of the Jeep while the man went in to pay for gas.

I asked her if they were going to spend the night in Albuquerque and when she said yes, I told her they needed to get some heavy chains or locks to protect the vehicles or else they would not be there when they come out of the hotel the next morning. That scared her enough to say they would not spend the night there. I suggest Grants or one of well populated Indian casinos along I-40 west of ABQ.

At least once each week the press has a story of a rental van or towed trailer being broken into at best or completely stolen at worst.

Ya.

He was in Malcolm in the Middle too. One of my favorite shows. Too bad he is a jerk.

All this to-do. Never seen the show.

So why are you posting on a thread about it? Just curious. I tend to avoid threads about subjects I have no interest in.

Yeah - what I'm trying to figure out is how car thefts dropped when the show was on the air. 2008-2013...

Likely from then on to today, it's because the police are way under staffed and the damn judges do catch and release, often with no bail. It's really bad for all types of crime and the auto thefts are mainly by gangs or addicts.

When I first watched a few episodes of Breaking Bad, it was great.

It was in early days of streaming video for me, on Netflix.

But after 10-20 episodes I get bored with such shows.

Now I understand the common practice with European television to have just a few episodes each year.

What does Hollywood have to do with car thefts? This wasn’t a show about car thieves...

BB was based in Albuquerque.

The decline in auto thefts occurred during the years the show was on the air.

Even the hollywierdos that DID “move to Canada” after the election (There were less than 5 as I recall) they just bought a property up there, and probably haven’t even seen it.

Cranston came out very publicly last Fall to say Trump should be given a chance. Google for more on that.

Overrated show.

Your opinion simply isn't shared by the vast majority.

This show pioneered and revolutionized the way we watch television forever. If BB hadn't came out (and it almost didn't, because the producer said he wouldn't have made it if he had heard of Weeds on Showtime. which has nearly the same premise) there wouldn't be a Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, or Walking Dead on right now.

While the story lines were somewhat similar, BB had far better writing and acting. The only thing that Weeds had going for it was that pretty, skinny girl. The rest of the show was dreck.

“Plus the lead actor is a Trump-hating “I will move to Canada” ass clown leftard. Guess what? Just like every liberal hypocrite, he’s still in America. I’m talking about Cranston.”

Who cares? Cranston is an actor and he is good at what he does;playing a role.

I was in the hospital in January 2012 with a rapid heart-beat.

I had never seen “Breaking Bad” before, but there was a marathon of the show on TV and I watches it all day and most of the night.

The next day, the on-call doctor who was in charge of the floor, and somewhat of an ass, came into my hospital room and asked me about my elevated heart rate. He said, “I have to ask you, do you use crystal-meth?”

I was irritated and annoyed by the question. I motioned at the turned-off TV and said, “The only time I’ve ever seen crystal-meth was during the ‘Breaking Bad’ marathon last night on TV!”

Its the greatest TV show ever. I envy you that you have not seen it, as I would love to watch it again for the first time.

“Breaking Bad” means to suddenly shift from a good guy to a bad guy. The characters are deep and compelling (all of them) and the writing is stellar. You begin by rooting for the protagonist because he is a good guy in a bad spot, and where you end up is where you end up, no happy TV endings.

Something I found interesting was the plan for wiping a hard drive from outside the building. I thought of the same plan in the '80s (I was thinking of shelves of magnetic tapes of course, but basically the same plan.) Of course, I was contemplating possible defenses, not planning to wipe data.

I never heard of anyone else mentioning an idea like that until this show!
