Well said.....ivory tower inhabitants don’t know Americans. Period!
And your mama turns tricks on the corner street. See how easy it is to say whatever you want!!! 8>)
I don't. Derek Jeter failed to get a hit 7 out of every 10 times he came to the plate and yet he'll be in the Hall of Fame first year he's eligible. I don't expect to get a hit every time. I just like finding stuff that people may find interesting.
Not true, most of what comes out of there is still good, but certainly not all with this being a prime example for sure of the bad that has crept in to a degree.
The only thing that happened in the Alabama election was that democrats devised a plan to discredit the republican candidate. It worked better than they ever imagined. It even gave the GOPe cover to disavow the conservative. Along with a willing media and possible vote fraud they managed to steal a senate seat.
Thanks. I'll keep that in mind.
Alabama is Alabama, period. You cannot conflate elements of the last election there to other states.
Special elections, last I checked Mass wasn’t turning into swing state either.
Similarly, perhaps the greatest opinion piece I ever read was published in The Public Interest in 1993 by a then-unknown Jeffrey R. Snyder.
A Nation of Cowards is an awesome philosophical bulwark of self-defense, firearms, concealed-carry, and the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. This uncredentialed Snyder's thesis was that we'd become a nation of cowards insofar as a "defect...in our character" had let crime become "rampant because the law-abiding, each of us, condone it, excuse it, permit it, submit to it." He went on to say that:
One who values his life and takes seriously his responsibilities to his family and community...will be armed, will be trained in the use of his weapon, and will defend himself when faced with lethal violence.
Fortunately, there is a weapon for preserving life and liberty that can be wielded effectively by almost anyone -- the handgun.
I highly recommend reading this piece in toto.
For me, a great deal of what makes FR so bitchin' (as we said in the 1980s) is that I never know where I will find insights, articles, analysis, or humor...usually from uncredentialed fellow FReepers with more on the ball than George Will, Paul Krugman, and/or Nate Silver.
Of course, the reverse is also true: most of the bands in clubs are bad...but some are good, and a few are awesome and eventually become successful. It is through the destructive waves of capitalism, abetted by a free marketplace, that this all gets sorted out.
More correctly the Republican Party is dead.
Red State voters are sick and tired of the fan dance.
We’re voting Conservative, not necessarily Republican.
Wow, the MSM, Establishment, leftist and Democrats are reading WAY too much into the Alabama election. They are overplaying their hand. The article is BS.
“I just like finding stuff that people may find interesting.”
I couldn’t agree more. I try to post judiciously, as well. Generally, I prefer to post “newsy” articles. There’re so many opinions floating around, it’s difficult to find any that also include new information, or with a unique take on their respective subject matters.
The scariest part of this article is Texas. My guess is that 3 factors are changing Texas blue, and correct me if I am wrong, please, especially if you live in Texas.
1) Illegal immigration is flooding Texas as it always has, and these new illegals re 90% Democratic voters
2) As the Texas economy has been booming unlike most of the rest of the country for the last many years, liberals have been flooding in to fill jobs
3) City folk are just more liberal, period. Newer generations of born Texas are just increasingly liberal
Yes, fake allegations mean you are doomed and this will happen again and again.
I agree, but it wasn’t Democrats (except for the media” I truly believe the operation was lead by McConnell and the Bush family.
It wasn't fake allegations that did Moore in. Alabamans just didn't really like the guy.
Moore ran for governor twice and was thoroughly trounced both times. The only statewide election he won was for judge in 2012 and even then, he barely squeaked past the finish line, receiving a whopping 400,000 fewer votes than Mitt Romney did. President Trump expressed concerns about Moore's ability to win and that was long before we ever heard of Leigh Corfman.
The lesson here is that Republican voters need to stop rallying behind fringe evangelicals for statewide office. If they can't win in Alabama, they're not going to win anywhere.
I respectfully disagree. You have something against evangelicals? Nope, McConnell ran this whole operation against Moore, with help from Bill Kristol, Rove and other establishment players. This will be their defense strategy against every primary challenger from now on. They rather see a Democrat win.
This Moore/Jones contest was literally a paid hit job. Now that he’s lost, the “accusers” are gone. There were 2 that accused him of possible illegal acts, and the rest just were added in to make it look bad.
The two accusers that were paid big bucks for their lies didn’t have any credibility whatsoever.
The press should be charged with inkind donations to the tune of billions. The free media play of the salacious details of the accusations without even coming close to giving him the time to defend himself was sick.
I agree, but it wasnt Democrats (except for the media I truly believe the operation was lead by McConnell and the Bush family.
I wouldnt disagree with that.
We will pick up Senate seats next year and make the win in Al. irrelevant.
As long as we don’t run people like Roy Moore. And Sharron Angle, Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock, Christine O’Donnell...
There’s a lesson to be learned here somewhere.
The Media is losing power, but it still has enough to concentrate it all on one election, when only one is happening at a time.
