Grace killed the concept of only being intimate with your spouse? LOL! What about Jesus comments to the woman at the well? What about Jesus’ comments about adultery? What about the NT warning to avoid the works of the flesh?
Did not realize there were social liberals on FR
Sounds like to me he did not deserve her. Hope she finds someone way better.
I was thinking that if they allowed women to drive it wouldn’t have happened.
After 14 years being alone I remarried my first wife’s best friend .
Been married the 2nd time now for 20 years.
The 2 wives are still best friends.
Good thing is they all leave me alone on my birthday.
I’m not a biblical scholar and a half believer at best, but I have been to many a sermon in many different denominations from conservative to mainstream that says even the murderer or child molester can have salvation if they repent of their sins. I would assume that counts for the sleep around too. Additionally, again from sitting in various settings once someone receives salvation God doesn’t take it away. The old once saved always saved. I’ve always found this hard to believe, but they are adamant.
Was your current wife at the surprise party?
Willfully sinning and thinking it is OK because one is “saved”, is a big red flag that one is not truly saved
You don't get to just sin with impunity once you've heard the gospel and professed Christ, and then just "repent" but go out and do it some more. There is no such thing as "once saved, always saved"; certainly not if you keep on deliberately engaging in sinful behavior.
Boy, did she dodge a bullet, or what? (Unless, of course, a male relative decides she is eligible for an “honor killing”).
?? You’re kidding, right?
Everyone, Christians included, sins. Usually willfully, sometimes in ignorance. I’m not one of those “grace” people who say, all my sins, past, present, and future, are forgiven”, meaning, short of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, any sin we commit, is already forgiven, in that Jesus has already paid the price for anyone’s sin, if we avail ourselves, that is true, but each sin needs to be dealt with in turn Forgiveness requires repentance. And even Jesus said, “Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.” Luke 17:3,4 The Apostle John said it well: “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1John 2:1
Thats under the temporary marriage rule allowed in shia muslim society.(Iran) Not done in sunni areas.(Saudi)
Well said Albion. Part of sanctification is developing a growing resistance to sin and temptation.
Threads like this one are part of the reason I love FR!
Lucky girl.
No it doesn't.
