One of Shanter’s funnies bits.
Also, the bodybuilder and the T.J. Hooker one.
I was working out (weights/machines) 6-7 days a week; one of my best friends told me I had to watch the weightlifting one when I came to his house one night (we were in college together). It was stinkin’ hilarious.
If it had the 6-cylinder - eek, driving my sister’s Gremlin in the 1970’s I went to pass someone. That WAS truly frightening.
Now, if she had gotten the 401 Gremlin.....
[I went to the original Star Wars in 1977]
An amazing comeback 13 years later!! ;)
I preferred “Chunnel” - then I got roped into seeing “Sack Lunch” on an airplane hijacked to Cuba by three #1 Dads. Except they shut it off.
I say this several times a day. Several of my faculty colleagues have offices filled with SW merchandise.
You left out “beep-beep-boop-beep-beep”
“Beep-beep-boop-beep-beep”?
Is Joy Behar in this one?
One of my internal (I/T) customers had a whole bookshelf with that stuff and other stuff. I always told him, I’m gonna come up at lunch and play some time, LOL. He must have had hundreds of dollars in that stuff. Unlike 2 or 3 other internal customers, he was never a problem.
I had one of those. Worst car EVER! The VW THING was a little better, but not much.
I’ve had worse happen. Years ago (1963), at a showing of KINGS OF THE SUN with Yul Brynner, during the BIG BATTLE SCENE, just as the reel ended and the second projector started the last reel, we got lots of sound BUT NO PICTURE! A black screen! Talk about screaming and hollering in the theater!
It gave this teen an excuse to set through it a second time to see what I had missed.
Only other thing worse was when they lost the second to last reel of THE WAR LORD. So, we went from the beginning of the attack on the Tower, to them walking out passed all the destroyed siege towers and battering rams.
Burbank???
Come back, Johnny Carson; there’s one more joke waiting for you.
Jar jar is replaced by a swarm of very annoying birds that look like a cross between a baby penguin and puss-n-boots from shriek.
I saw the movie last night. My company rented the theatre for a Christmas function.
I won’t try to spoil it for anyone, but it was 50-50 in my opinion. Had some really great scenes and effects, and some really dumb plot lines as well. Kids will probably like it. Those of us that grew up on the original maybe not so much.
“A cross between a baby penguin and Puss-N-Boots”
They finally wrote a part for Joy Behar.
The media treated the film like it would be a classic. Now that the average person has seen it, the reviews have been downright terrible. I hear the plot is a total mess and characters are not developed well. Looks like I’ll temper my expectations quite a bit.
PT Barnum was right.
Been meaning to ask, did they ever go ahead and make the characters Finn and Poe gay in this movie like Abrams said he was going to do?
No. In fact by the end it seems that Finn and Poe, especially Finn, is each heading toward a girl.
Maybe Disney came to understand that most of their box office comes from last year's big swath of red across America. Places filled with families who do NOT want a "Finn and Poe happily married" action figure set at Toys R Us.
Technically, Abrams only said he intended to create gay characters in Star Wars. He never said anything about whether it was Finn and Poe he had in mind. Besides, we have one more episode that will be directed by Abrams, so we’re not out of the woods just yet.
Hopefully Disney’s wising up to the whole thing about how American families do NOT want gay characters touching family friendly stuff, because that may mean that I’ll end my boycott early. That said, though, their loss of revenue for Gay Days and their still continuing it AFAIK suggests they aren’t going to give up any time soon. LeFou technically wasn’t even confirmed gay in the actual screenplay of the 2017 film, and was only considered that because the director mouthed off at the worst time. I just hope Disney wises up, maybe also fires Iger for putting politics over actually providing for families, something that even Eisner at least was smart enough to try to avoid doing (Gay Days aside).
“Maybe Disney came to understand that most of their box office comes from last year’s big swath of red across America.”
That and China. I think they ban movies that involve or promote homosexuality? And so they wasn’t willing to lose out on such a massive market and take a hit at the box office. It seems after all his sjw posturing Abrams chickened out in the end.
