It’s been said that facing the sheer terror of death causes the person to faint in mid-air (become unconscious) or suffer a fatal heart attack. In most falling cases, the person is already dead before they hit the ground. I've heard that, too.
Is that just wishful thinking or do they actually have some evidence to support that?

Damnit, it's not an old wives' tale! It's been proven through hundreds of coroner reports.That is nonsense. a) Most heart attacks take several minutes to cause death and the fall would be much shorter. b) There is no way at all for a coroner to tell if a person had fainted prior to impact.
