Rubio disgusts me. If he insists on his demand, I say give in. Then strip him of all committee assignments. With only one spare vote, republicans can vote as ordered to meet President Trump’s campaign promises, or they can face appropriate punishment.

little Marco...he must be wetting his pants over the number of liberal dem voters (displaced Puerto Rican) entering Florida....he is such a lite weight and obvious suck to the PC left.
Yep. They are swarming the state.I saw an article about 100 Puerto Rican “hurricane refugee” kids now in Jacksonville schools. Retail jobs are becoming increasing Hispanic here, too. Walmart, fast food, etc.

Fortunately, we now have teh Shelby Rule so we can write in our conservative of choice instead of voting for Rubio.

“Pence to preside over vote.”
I don’t think VP Pence will have to preside over any vote, still too many RINO’S that will kill this bill.

You are kidding me right? He basically is asking for a handout for folks whos tax bill is less than the Child Tax Credit?????
Refundable against payroll taxes (i.e. Social Security tax, etc). Given all the different things being proposed, I don’t think the tax preparer community is in danger of losing any business.

Whaaa! Come on Marco, let’s see you stomp your feet and hold your breath until you turn blue. That’s what little bratty 4 year olds do when they start laying out their demands.
Snort, as if the RINO was ever going to vote for the GOP bill.

Not exactly. The distinction between federal payroll and income taxes is artificial. It comes from exactly the same bucket, which is why, as Social Security has gone into deficit, the general budget has been tapped to cover the difference. Prior to going into deficit, Social Security surpluses weren’t banked - they were used as if they were part of the general budget.

Rubio's problematic on immigration, but he's pretty level-headed (from a conservative standpoint) on other issues. The tax credit here is pretty much an attempt to shore up a segment of the GOP electorate, the white working poor, that will see little tax benefit from the bill unless the credit is passed. In closely-contested FL, it's a GOTV gesture that's essential for statewide GOP candidates to be re-elected.
I hope I'm wrong, but I expect that, without Rubio's change, this tax bill will cost the GOP its majority in both houses in 2018. Part of the reason Moore lost to Jones was probably because of this tax bill. From an optics standpoint, it looks like the GOP is in thrall to the globalist open borders plutocrats. GOP-leaning working class whites with household incomes under $40K will look at this bill and wonder why they even bother to show up at the polls. That's why the child tax credit refundable against payroll taxes is essential.
