‘Racist’ flyer may cost Doug Jones big in AL

The Doug Jones for Senate Committee thought that circulating a racially charged flyer was a good way to win the black vote in Alabama in the upcoming special election against Judge Roy Moore. The move backfired.

The flyer has been making the rounds on social media. It shows a young black man with a skeptical look on his face.

“Think if a black man went after high school girls anyone would try to make him a senator?” it reads. The answer to the question is ‘maybe,’ but that’s not the point. Multiple people who got the flyer posted photos of it on Twitter. Some condemned it as out of touch and insensitive.

Huntsville television station WHNT reported that the Jones campaign confirmed they sent out the flyers.

Michael Harriot at TheRoot.com, a site that covers black culture, wrote that “it has upset black voters across Alabama. Someone, probably a white man, thought that the image would resonate with black people and motivate them to get out the vote,” he said.

The flyer was meant as a reference to the multiple women alleging Moore pursued relationships with them as teenagers when he was in his 30s. He has denied the accusations.

Black voters will play a huge role in upcoming elections; they essentially voted President Obama into office in 2008 and 2012. The Democrat party cannot afford to alienate black constituents, but they just did.

The guy in the photo looks like they explained the ad concept and then snapped the photo before he could say "You're @ing kidding me..."

Because I'm seeing the results of what the democrats truly think about black people and my first thought is "You're @ing kidding me..."

It is all the democrats have. They have played all the division cards for too long and people are starting to see them for who they are. Just full of hate pus bags with nothing to offer.

We all saw what people get with democrat Obama and it was a freaking disaster.

“All their Alinsky tactics are blowing up in their faces these days.”

One can always trust communist scu&bags to be communist scu&bags and try any devious, low-life, slippery, adolescent trick there is.

IMHO

That’s true. They’ve used and abused them and taken them for granted for too long.

Oh really? Did the racist ads cost the Democrat in the Virginia governor’s race last month as so many here were sure that they would (especially when some leftist organizations even pretended to pull their support of Northem because of those ads)?

No they did not.

The Rat won anyway, and in fact his racist pandering probably helped him win. Jones would be a fool not to try it in Alabama, particularly since he cannot possibly win on his own merits.

Alabama isn’t Virginia. Virginia might as well be Massachusetts now.

Very true, but Moore has always been a somewhat polarizing figure even in rock-solid Republican Alabama — had the Rats nominated a plausible moderate instead of a wacko liberal like Doug Jones, this was NEVER going to be a 15-20% blowout win for Moore and maybe not even 10%.

By whipping up the hard core racist-from-birth segment of the Democrat electorate into a frenzy in an election made artificially close by a constant onslaught of media lies & hatred for Moore (and tons of liberal $$$$ to just about zilch from establishment RINOs), they left is praying that their efforts tip the scales just enough.

It *probably* won’t be enough, but it damn sure could be. Moore, like Trump, has withstood an assault of lies and hate that no politician in recent memory has had to endure.

I disagree with the premise. The flyers won’t cost Jones the election because he wasn’t winning to begin with. It was a desperate attempt that backfired because Jones was losing. He’s still losing.

In light of Rep Conyers’ hitting on female staffers (and I thought Conyers’ was black), this flyer was ill-timed and ill-conceived.
