Miami Police want drivers to be on the lookout for crooks trying to steal airbags.
Just this week, three men were arrested for stealing several airbags from cars earlier this month.
According to police, thieves are targeting Acura and Honda models.
Police said theyre stealing the airbags between the hours of 1:00 and 5:00 a.m.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau said airbag theft and fraud are growing crime trends.
A new airbag from a car dealer costs around $1,000, according to the NICB, but can be purchased for $50-$200 on the streets.
If you have any information, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
I can’t _give_ my Jeep airbags away from my parts car.
Can’t ship em, can’t legally sell them. I wonder how these guys are fencing these things ?!
Sell them.
One can also use the initiator to trigger explosions(like a blasting cap)
Or so I have been told....
Does anyone supply non-functional airbags where you really only need the horn pad? In other words,it would look normal, but only the airbag wouldn’t function.
Wondering if there is an older,non-airbag steering wheel ass’y that would work?
An Air Bag must be handled very carefully when being removed. Could detonate if power and reserse power isn’t deactivated first.
reserse = reserve. Reserve power for example could be a charged capacitor. Read SRS deactivation procedure.

I got mine free as the airbag I did have was defective : )
1-800-CONGRESS ...... There is a going out of business sale going on now.
Air bag deployment can, from an insurance perspective “total” a car so fast it’s almost comical.
