Well, as a Catholic liker of popes in general but disliker of this particular pope, I have to strongly disagree.
"Lead" has been in use in the English version since at least the time of Henry VIII. "Inducas" (induce/lead) has been in the Latin version for 1500+ years. And the Greek version which apparently has the equivalent of "lead" was in use from essentially the 1st century.
I have a real problem with this pope or any pope or any Christian for that matter looking at something this ancient and saying, "Ya know, this translation can't possibly be what Jesus meant. I can do better." It's the height of arrogance to think like that. The translation is what it is. Deal with it. Maybe it doesn't precisely comport with our understanding of theology, but so what? The same can be said of a fair amount of other stuff in the Bible. Leave it be.
