Chronic cannabis users are at risk of experiencing a horrifying new condition that is being reported at hospitals across the country. 'Scromiting,' doctors say, is becoming an all-too-familiar site at emergency rooms, with patients 'screaming and vomiting' as they turn up for help...'I've screamed out for death,' Chalfonte LeNee Queen, 48, told NPR after experiencing the terrifying illness. 'I've cried out for my mom, who's been dead for 20 years, mentally not realizing she can't come to me.'

I’d smoke, stare at the grass, get the munchies and then take a nap.

A conservative also doesn’t want to pay the taxes it takes to treat these “druggies” when they come into the Er when they overdose. A conservative also expects most folks to pull their own weight and to not have to pay the consequences of these druggies’ bad habits...hence their support for laws against abuse of drugs that may foist the cost of a liberal druggie’s bad habits on the rest of us. So when it comes to addictive drugs....nanny state away!

“Cyclic vomiting disorder has long been known as a consequence of marijuana use. We see it all the time in the hospital. Of course the weed is a natural substance and can do no wrong crowd won’t change their habits or even admit what’s causing it”

Thats odd...this showing up all of a sudden some 50 years after weed use became commonplace. Yet another crisis and excuse for the handwringers to pass laws. Its not the marijuana...it must be some contamination either deliberate or natural. But then democrats are so near the edge in a sober state that it doesn’t take much to push them over.

that was why I said not all. Most of the local police agencies in my area have implemented that policy though.

About how many marijuana overdoses do you see per week?

“Cyclic vomiting disorder has long been known as a consequence of marijuana use.”

Back in the day, when America was still America there was a lot of “cyclic vomiting”. It would happen to little kids who got smoking. The old man would force the miscreant to smoke a 6” long cigar until he began calling his friends Ralph and Huey. Then he had to wear his thoroughly browned trousers the rest of the day. It worked.

No telling what crap chems they’re putting in to it, these days.

Where I live, legal pot, grown by state licensed growers, is shipped to state licensed testing centers before being processed, packaged and sold by licensed and strictly regulated retailers who affix state required labels to each and every fraction of a gram sold. So, yes. In this state, at least, a pot buyer does know exactly what he's getting unless he's buying illegal street weed.

But I suppose we could make it illegal again. Then no one would smoke it anymore and the problem will be solved.

We are getting people with THC in their systems, psychotic or unconscious...the pot most likely has been laced with something but our systems don’t detect it. In about 75 per cent it’s THC with other substances we can detect. The pot that is out there now is much stronger than you momma’s 3 per cent THC “panama red”.

We are getting those “scromitizers” who become passed out or are psychotic and need to be restrained and sedated(with just thc in their systems). The next day some of them don’t know what happened or why they are there. Overdose isn’t the word to use here....perhaps the supply is messed with. My own family member cannot take any pot anymore as it sends her into a 3 day euphoria...and that is just pot. Pot is a gateway drug and it is often seen in the drug tests with cocaine and opiates....no matter how many of the pro potheads try to debunk it. It’s just so much fake news to say that it isn’t a gate way drug!

At times in our general ICU populations we may have at least 10 beds out of 32 filled with OD’s or people who’ve “Mixed and matched”. That’s not counting the drunks who are withdrawing. Anything that is mind altering, outside of acceptable medical use should be banned.

What’s horrible is watching the young die after an accident related to their being stoned! My heart is like a stone regarding attempts decriminalize drugs...but it isn’t so much the users...it’s the drug pushers and higher up shady “deep state” sorts of folks, who regard the drug trade as a way for impoverished countries to pay their loans or to finance wars and arms smuggling off the backs of American drug addicts, that I reserve my deepest disgust for.

I think of the innocent women and men who tried to stand up to Mexican drug lords who get their heads chopped off so some American can shoot dope or smoke weed;...well that innocent blood is also on those drug abusers’ heads as well since it their money or money that was stolen that went to those blood thirsty drug lords!

A pot head may blissfully go through life or end upma hopeless schizophrenic.

One of my best friend's brother, a Vietnam vet who smoked lots of pot in Nam and afterwards, developed schizophrenia around the age of 30 or so.

Was it caused by pot? I often wondered that and I don't know but there was no history of mental illness in the family......

"Druggies...weak minds unable to deal with reality"

this....

druggies are weak people unable to enjoy life as it is....

why can't people just enjoy life?....why do people need to drug out all the time?

I don't get it....

if I physically could, I would want to have my full senses alive and vibrant 24/7...

I don't want to miss a thing....

Strange. You'd think I'd have heard about it before today.

I was thinking the same thing. I've been around chronic pot smokers almost fifty years (4 Jul 1968 was my first time sitting down with a bunch of potheads in the commo bunker at Dak To). I lived in Hawaii for thirty years and worked in the motorcycle industry. Extrapolate from that what you will; and this, today, is the first I have heard about this cyclic vomiting syndrome.

Pot has been legally available for retail sales where I live for about six months and has, in fact, been legal to grow or possess for personal use here since 1975.

I'll file this away for future reference as a dot that may be connected at a later date. For now, as far as I am concerned this is unsubstantiated hyperbole at best. In the world of today, what I know is based on personal experience and direct observation. Everything else is just rumor to which I apply critical thinking based on what I really do know.

“The expotential increase in the incidence of autism closely correlates with the increased use of illegal drugs in women of procreative age.”

You can correlate increased incidence of autism with a great many things, but correlation does not equal causation.

“the marijuana of a million years ago isn’t the marijuana of today”

The cannabis of today is undoubtedly more potent than say the 1970’s and beyond. As a medical marijuana patient in Florida, this is a very good thing for me.

It requires less medicine to achieve the desired outcome which saves me a fortune.

What we see in the hospitals are a population who can’t handle the drug. Perhaps many can handle a couple of hits but the population we’ll see is a population perhaps you will never see in your particular rarified sect. The population we see aren’t handling it well at all. The traditional scenario is a youngster 18-30, male or female, starts off with smoking a few joints, then will take etoh, or throw in coke or opiates. Or they take a hit of what they thought was a joint but were never told about the ‘special ingredient’. Some of them just can’t take the stronger levels of THC found in pot now a days and become sick, dehydrated, disoriented and needing treatment. There is a lot of “synthetic” pot that makes some folks act like a crazed superperson and they often have to be restrained and sedated, only the sedation levels they need would stun an elephant.

So don’t try that ‘me and my reasonable pot smoking friends” routine. Are you ever sure that the pot you smoked over your “20 year pot career” never at one time came from a source where death and murder wasn’t used to protect the sources of your pot? I think of the people murdered in Mexico over the years and in other lands just so Americans can smoke their joint or shoot their dope...blood does follow illegal money and I believe many American pot smokers, coke and heroin users have innocent blood on their hands!

Really?! (2 decades into your pot smoking career?!)

“So when it comes to addictive drugs....nanny state away!’

So you’ll be fine when a Michelle Obama type is in power & they decide what you will & will not eat in order to keep you off the “fatty list”. Got it.

You’ll be fine when the next Obamaturd is in the White House & they decide 2% milk has too much fat in it & they criminalize it to “save you”. Got it.

Pro-nannystate people are not conservative, IMO. Just a different breed of RAT.
