FULL TITLE: 'I have been hit, kicked and restrained from behind - by FIRST-GRADERS': At least 45 Pennsylvania teachers resign in just three months due to student violence and those that remain are 'begging' for help from school board

Dozens of teachers have quit their jobs in Pennsylvania's capital city amid a wave of violence from students as early as the first grade, it has emerged.

The Harrisburg Education Association (HEA) said that at least 45 teachers resigned between July and October, and more have followed since. Those who remain are now demanding more help from administrators.

'I have been kicked, punched, hit, scratched. I've had a student physically restraining me in front of my other students,' first-grade teacher Amanda Shaeffer told board members, according to Penn Live.

Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to teach that unit on Lord of the Flies.

Primary school classrooms have never in my lifetime had so many in-class assistants and helpers as they do nowadays, and yet more primary schools than ever are so poor in achievement and have so many problems.

In my day if a kid was disruptive in class they were sent home and got disciplined at home as well. Their parents didn’t get to make excuses for them and even “home life” problems were no excuse and were a problem parents had to solve or see their kid not allowed back in class. And primary school teachers ran the show with no “teachers assistants” in the classroom.

It would be interesting to know the demographics of the student populations at the schools that have a lot of violence.

Correct. I don’t know why people don’t understand that. So much as a firm grip on a kid’s arm and you’re risking your job, your freedom, and your finances.

They grab the teacher by the wrist. And little buggers won’t let go. The teacher tries to resist then it’s assault.

My mother taught in a ghetto black high school for a few years around 1974. The city had “flipped” over the past ten years. The students treated her with respect, she never had any complaints about that.

She said some of them were quite smart but they were mostly raised ghetto. She was talking with some pregnant girls and she used the phrase “going to bed with” a boy and they didn’t know what she meant. Against a wall was what they were used to.

It was a fairly safe and respectful school when the competent white principal was there. The powers that be chased him out and replaced him with a competent black principal and then chased him out and replaced him with an incompetent one. And then it became dangerous and hopeless, no chance of an eduction.

Back in the eighties, my sister-in-law grabbed my misbehaving nephew by the arm when he refused to obey, and he looked at her and said "That's child abuse."

My sister-in-law told my mother this story over coffee (they lived in a in-law apartment with her)

The next time my mother saw the boy, she grabbed his arm, pulled him close and hissed at him "Next time you pull that, I am going to show you what REAL child abuse is."

I loved it. My mom could be a terror when we were misbehaving kids, and we learned to listen to her and respect whatever she said.

It’s not just inner city blacks. I had to quit our little conservative mostly white school but many illegals a couple years into the Obama years. Kids are out of control these days and they know the teachers can’t do a thing to stop them.

Only Teachers assistants in my day were in Kindergarten.

Maybe if there were too many kids for a class but did not warrant hiring a full time teacher to open up a new classroom in older grade school rooms.

In many countries Education is considered a privilege and disruptive elements are expelled on the spot. But not in the US, liberal programs designed to dumb down the population so they are more easily controlled is the rule of the day.

It’s sad. The left destroys everything it touches. Of course, the leftist elites insulate themselves from the policies they force on the peons.

The answer is self-evident. Add to that, it’s almost a given the most violent ones are those with just a single mother parent (and usually have had multiple children by multiple men who are behind bars or nowhere to be found).

>>> A friend of mine has a sociopathic child who just turned 5 y.o.

I’ve personally experienced this kind of madness as a step father. Fell in love with a woman with 3 children. The youngest a boy. I knew going into the marriage that things could get rough with that kid but I never EVER imagined that he could go to the depths of sociopathic behavior that he did. I learned then that once a kid has determined to out-do every previous foul up, theres not a thing that anyone can do about it. You cant put them in a straight jacket and the courts locking them up never did anything.

So sad. I dont get it at all.

“In my day if a kid was disruptive in class they were sent home and got disciplined at home as well.”

I hear ya!
I can remember my mom or dad taking me to school every year to meet my teacher.
Every year they told the teacher the same thing, “If my son acts up or doesn’t listen you give him a whipping. Then call us and he’ll get another whipping when he gets home.”
It was effective.
I never acted up. Ever.

As much as I despise Obama, you can't pin this solely on him.

You can thank ALL the politicians, from both parties, who take National Education Association (Leftist union) campaign dollars and subsequently write laws that prevent expulsion or suspensions because it would "deny students access to their education" ... i.e. deny school districts their "meat in the seat" money. An absent student means less dollars for that day to the school.
