There is no doubt about it the three UCLA players screwed up big time. And now the players may be facing additional charges.
UCLA Bruins freshmen LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill were arrested earlier this week on shoplifting charges in China, where their team spent the week prior to Saturdays opener against Georgia Tech. But things have gotten worse.

LilAngeo Ball will be sentenced to 3 years in a shoe factory making his brother’s sneakers.
Think of how bad it will be in the future with a people who are plain ignorant trying to run things.
We had a taste with Obama. Making decisions based on false assumptions about reality may be the best way of understanding his abject failure as a President.
“Hope they go to jail for a year.”
Are you kidding?
They will be lucky to be out in ten.
Let ‘em rot.
“LiAngelo, have you ever been in a Chinese prison?”
I stated on another tread, they were not coming home anytime soon. Took some flack, well...
Now that the crime is public, Chinese officials have their hands tied.
Even if substantial sums of money changed hands, the issue of unequal treatment under the law and the Chinese people losing face is most problematic.
Dumb MFrs stole from a legitimate high end western retailer employing Chinese people.
The players will require a team of lawyers, Chinese and American and the penalty whatever it is will fit the crime according to Chinese law and sentencing guidelines.
Homey don’t play black privilege, in fact the lawyers are really needed to try and stop China from making and example of these clowns.
OMG, poke a stick in the eye of a country that runs on “face” and they will save that face by poking back.
The father could be dumber than his idiot son.
Not a college BB fan.
China Prosecutors have a 99.2% prosecution rate once you are convicted.
These stupid brothas still got a chance !!
HA HA
If they don’t like US cops and the justice system, just wait until they experience the Chinese.
Oh Yeah! These guys shoulda just packed their boots with hi-grade hash. There chainball days at the corner lot are over.
Some of that statanding of empty pop bottles might help ‘em, but I doubt it.
I’m can’t see a down side here. Arrogant, ignorant athletes go to China and commit a crime. They get arrested and might spend serious time in jail. Why aren’t we sending more of these idiots to China?
Situation reminds me of the dumb American kid who sprayed graffiti in Singapore, was caught and sentenced to caning. Parents went on the network news demanding that our government do something to stop the ‘barbaric’ punishment. To their shock, the reaction of most Americans was, “Good, the kid deserves it. Maybe if we caned people here we wouldn’t have the problems we have.” As I recall, the number of ‘strokes’ was reduced, but he still got caned.
These NFL players need to take knees

Make sure not to make any slant-eye gestures.
...all caught on surveillance cameras
“A source with firsthand knowledge of the investigation said the players could be in Hangzhou for “a week or two.” The source noted that there is surveillance footage of the players shoplifting from three stores inside of a high-end shopping center, which houses Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Salvatore Ferragamo stores.”
Yes, it seems like a “win-win”.
It may open the eyes of some people here in the U.S.
I lived in Spain for three years when I was a kid because my dad was stationed there in the Air Force. We lived in the local little town "on the economy" as they called it, instead of base housing, which at the time, there was none.
Living in the midst of the local population and their culture was a big eyeopener for me.
But to my point. I was never so glad to land at McGuire AFB in New Jersey when we returned. Even at a young age, I realized how fortunate I was to live in the US and all of its appurtenant advantages. Many people who have never been outside the US, do not realize how good we have it here.
Unfortunately for these three athletes, they will find out the hard way how different China is from the US.
“Unfortunately for these three athletes, they will find out the hard way how different China is from the US.”
They sure will.
The Chinese government could care less about their basketball careers - ZERO.
Also, important to note, this is not an international incident requiring US Government intervention.
It is a simple case of petty theft at three locations all caught on surveillance video.
No expectation the US Government needs to be involved.
They didn’t “screw up”
They committed crimes...they shoplifted...they stole...
They felt comfortable enough to engage in theft in a foreign country, because they’ve been doing the same thing here in America. The only problem is that they cannot shout RACISM or WHITE PRIVILEGE in China to cover for their criminal conduct.
Ye gad. If true, explains a lot.
