Are there any planes flying from Madagascar to American airports, and will they be serviced here? quarantine the service crews after their work.
Yes, the septicemic form turns you black, therefore it is a black privilege disease and cannot be racist.
One of the hallmarks of pneumonic plague is coughing up blood. Few pneumonias cause such a dramatic sign. This form of plague is aerosolized unlike the classic bubonic and septicemic forms of plague.
He didn’t say it was a virus. It’s a smallish gram negative bacteria.
Once again, an either an ignorant or deceptive media is pushing this is a threat to all mankind.
It is not.
It is a threat in backward, poor, superstitious, collectivist, countries like Madagascar.
Just another reason why all cultures are not equal.””
Exactly. I know several people that went to west Africa during the last Ebola outbreak. There is no infrastructure, no running water, no hygiene, garbage strewn about, no idea what an infectious agent is.
It is most commonly vectored by rodent flea bites that induce the bubonic form.
Recall back in the 80s, Idi Amin, a respected African leader like Obama, was accused of cannibalism.
C diff is not totally preventable and is quite difficult to treat. Annual flu kills about 36,000 a year.
It is not spread by careless health professionals. It is usually a result of antibiotic treatment of other infectious agents and the killing off of normal gut flora at the same time. Killing off the competition allows C. diff to overgrow. Keep in mind, patients bring a plethora of infectious agents into hospitals because they are ill.
Last time I checked, there is no vaccine for plague.

It’s an island. Quarantine it. Issues warnings then shoot down or sink anything trying to leave.
C. diff thrives due to suppressed immune system after killing off the competition flora. Got it !
My thought has always been- stay out of hospitals, because there's a lot of sick people there !
I can't imagine living in a country which is surrounded by a airborne plague that can kill within 24 hours.
Ciprofloxacin and Metronidazole intravenous—can feel the difference in only 20 minutes.
Marburg, a viral disease, was called a new ‘black death’ in other recent news, concerning an outbreak.
Not to worry. Plague is endemic to the SW US and cases are quite rare. Maybe a dozen per year at most.
And when “foot and mouth” disease was spreading in some Asian countries you had to walk over a disinfectant mat to get on the plane.
Plague is treatable, and there is a vaccine. But Madagascar is very poor. How poor is it? Well, just scan all those “wonderful Madagascar is so green with people who love to live close to nature” stuff around the internet.
Those "green" ECO-tours participants are the very same ones here who fight vaccination, despite the public health laws here.
One such mother/parent was sent to jail last week, and while she was incarcerated, they vaccinated her child so the child could attend school.
I think the school district is now looking down a civil lawsuit for inoculating without parental permission.
It sounds like Asian health authorities are using 'common sense' to prevent the spread of disease internationally.
