Triggered by Failure: George Clooney Ready to Quit Acting
Andrew Breitbart's Big Hollywood ^ | nov 8 2017

Posted on 11/08/2017 11:48:11 AM PST by drewh

Although the left-wing actor is only 56, George Clooney sounds like he is ready to quit acting because he is too old. “I’m 56. I’m not the guy that gets the girl anymore,” he told the Sunday Times. “I shouldn’t be the guy that gets the girl. But, look, if somebody’s got Paul Newman in The Verdict, I’d jump. But there aren’t that many like that. Acting used to be how I paid the rent, but I sold a tequila company for a billion dollars. I don’t need money.”

Clooney’s problem is not middle age. Hell, I am confident enough in my sexuality to admit that Clooney looks great. His problem is that he is a prove failure as both actor and a director. The only role Clooney is successful at is playing the Movie Star for a handful of Hollywood and media elites who have deluded themselves into believing he is one.

What is unfortunate for George Clooney is that he is George Clooney, which means he is saddled with George Clooney’s career — a legacy of box office mediocrity and outright failures.

As a director, his track record is even worse. Even in the bubble where everyone pretends Clooney is a Big Star and not a mediocre screenwriter/director, the breathtaking critical and box office failure of Suburbicon last month, which will be lucky to gross $6 million, will give investors and studios pause.

Clooney looks like a movie star, acts like a movie star, talks like a movie star…but it is all a pose and has been for more than a decade.

All the public goodwill required to be a movie star has dissolved beneath Clooney’s feet due to his divisive politics, smug demeanor, and terrible choices.

I guess his ego won’t allow him to take a supporting role.

I wonder if some stories are going to come out about him in the near future. Not sure if they would be from female or male accusers.

In Grant's last movie, didn't he effectively play matchmaker for Jim Hutton in Japan?

A remake of a WW2-era DC-based Jean Arthur movie.

Most of those guys you mentioned kept acting until they were very old,or died.

They didn’t stop because they were no longer romantic leading men.

Jack Nicholson made a movie twenty years ago with Helen Hunt as his love interest.

Yuck.

O Brother Where Art Thou

I consider this, one of Clooney’s best.

An extreme test of his talent.
