NEW YORK A viral Instagram account is showing just how much having kids changes your life with photos of things children have ruined.
Mike Julianelle started posting the before and after photos on the Instagram account on Oct. 12 and the page now has over 18,800 followers and has had submissions from parents around the world.
Julianelle kicked it off with his own side-by-side photo just ten years apart. He has a 7-year-old and an almost 2-year-old.
I think they show the toll kids take on parents, Julianelle told HuffPost.
Obviously, its meant to be lighthearted, and no one is seriously blaming their children for the state of their faces or lives, except for me when I seriously blame my kids for the state of my face and my life, which is basically all I do on my blog and Facebook page and Twitter, Julianelle joked.
Julianelle runs a blog called dadandburied.com and thought this page would make other parents laugh and realize theyre not alone in feeling overwhelmed.

I don’t know why these people think these changes would not have occurred if they’d never have had kids. None of them looks older than their age. This is some kind of weird age denial. They can’t deny that they look older but it ain’t them...it’s the kids?. Ohhhhhkay.
Who knew?
Well said.
Sounds like he doesn't have much time to parent.
children are the best thing to happen to adults,, not to other children..
Pretty sure I would have looked like crap at this age either way. Now, I’ve got four great kids with my wife of 25 years, looking forward to grand-kids, and knowing someone’s going to miss me when I die.
With time, you lose a lot and you gain a lot. One thing you never get back is your youth.
>>>I noticed that the sampling made some effort at ethnic equality but I would wager that a disproportionate number of the actual submissions are from white people.
and there is the rub:
for culture to survive it has to Value having kids.<<<
I live in the Chicago metro. I travel throughout 3/4 of the area extensively and have for over 20 years. The areas with the highest number of children are latino and muslim neighborhoods. The most affluent neighborhoods of young whites have a large number of doggy day care centers. I do not see many mothers with small children or babies in these areas.
Whenever I engage in talk with native born Americans about having children (either their first or more children) I always hear how expensive they are. Past generations were able to have large families with a fraction of the wealth we have today. It’s an interesting change in attitude don’t you think?
They should show a picture of one of my friends with the awesome car she had in college to the now picture of her with the totaled crappy car she shares with her husband that was stolen and wrecked by her drug dealing son - which she couldn’t drive to bail the son out of jail.
Dad told me, "If you wait until you have enough money to have kids, you'll never have kids". Absolutely correct, IMO.
I look at pictures of my folks when they were older and especially their parents and I see 40-90 year olds who if they left the house for any reason that didn’t require caring/doctoring cattle or such work on the ranch they were dressed well—suits and dresses to even go out to a dinner or club event.
Shocking how people who worked so hard managed the time to raise their several kids plus the dozen or so cousins that were handed to them during the depression and still managed to show some dignity.
Everybody complains about their kids sometimes ... moms at the playground or in the dance-class lobby, dads at a ball game, etc. However, there’s something about devoting a blog to it that marks a person as a serious loser.
I pause to agree with you ... on my way out the door to go to Walmart in a long skirt, blouse, a set of jewelry, my hair styled, my nails filed, and my glasses clean.
Take that, entropy!
I love when kids look at family pictures of you, young and thin and fashionable, and say ‘what happened to you?’ If they believe it was you at all! The answer is always....YOU HAPPENED!
Where are the still beautiful people? I see many of them. My wife, Melania Trump, many family and friends, etc.... These posers look like SJW’s whining again.
my mother always blamed me for her waistline!
Pretty funny...I am sure for many its a wake up call and a half....
But we sorta all did it too...
No theyre not.
Indeed! These cupcakes should never be allowed to engage in procreational activities.
For The Children, of course.
Social media and the self-absorbed.
They would have looked like that whether they had kids or not in 10 years.
