Several NFL Stadiums Half Full or Worse
PJ Media ^ | 10/23/2017 | Rick Moran

The NFL entered Week 7 today and it's obvious the backlash against players kneeling for the national anthem continues.

Here are a few tweets from around the league showing fans voting with their pocketbooks by not purchasing game tickets, leading to half-full -- or worse -- stadiums.

Courtesy of Gateway Pundit. All tweets show stadiums after kickoff.

Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets

Cleveland Browns vs. Tennessee Titans

Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

“why aren’t games being blacked out?”

My thought exactly... Once upon a time everything within a certain radius was supposed to be blacked out if the game wasn't a “sellout” or something close.

So, we can’t dismiss them as “fake news” outright.

No, we can't just dismiss them as "fake news", but we need a healthy dose of skepticism about these photos.

I finally did see one that showed the clock at 15:00 and looked like a kickoff, so that works. If they could show the score and the clock we could verify that that's right at the time the picture was taken.

I hope our boycott is that effective, but I doubt it. Another post showed that week 6 attendance was 93% of week 1.

The MSM distorts the truth on a regular basis with doctored pictures and omitted dialog. I don't want my side to do that. Without verification, they look like the "alien autopsy" video. I want the TRUTH.

It may be hard to know the true numbers, because a lot of these tickets may be “sold” even if the person doesn’t show up. If ypu paid a lot for a PSL, you may be reluctant to surrender it, even if you don’t want to go.

his job is to deflect bad publicity from the owners. they like that he has to comment on bad things and get the blame

It is why he is paid $30M/year.

I don't go out much to sporting events and maybe I've been to 5 games in the last 10 yrs, but I've always wondered why everything at these stadium is so expensive.
Now I've finally got it, they gotta pay the players their multi millions for throwing a toy ball.

Well yes and no. Simply put, they charge that much because they can. If salaries were capped at $100,000 per year, owners would still try to maximize concession profits.

I’m an original PSL holder for the Houston Texans. I have two seats, and a parking pass, purchased annually. I am going to try to sell my PSL’s this off-season. The annual cost for the seats and parking is getting too expensive for my soon to be divorced self, not to mention the fact that I’m just not as interested anymore. The politicization, and the fact that I’m late 40’s just means I don’t have the interest anymore.

My seats in sec 135 row K of NRG Stadium are around 105.00 a seat (2 seats), and it’s 30 or 35 per game for parking. So, each game is roughly $250 outlay for me; more if I want to actually buy a soda, food, or souvenir at the game.

Season tickets are already sold, and that’s what the blackout (racist! hehe) rule impacts.

Any commissioner is supposed to do that. Goodell hasn’t done a good job. Why is he trying to turn the NFL into the XFL, when the XFL failed?

I guess the kneeling prayers er... players, or whatever... bought into the media’s hype of how strong the left is as far as public opinion is concerned. It is hype. But a lot of folks don’t realize it and so they act out & act up to the displeasure of the majority of people who really just want to go to work in the morning, raise a family, and get the kids on their way to a lifetime that will be productive. The left, and the media has forgotten that. But that is really all there is to it. And in order to achieve that there has to be a sense of normalcy in the country and in the government.

“I have to conclude that most fans don’t care a whit about the players disrespecting the flag and the anthem and with this, the NFL won’t be affected much by anything.”

I’m wondering how much you actually know about NFL football and its fans. Almost everyone who actually attends the games are super fans, who invest thousands of dollars UP FRONT for season tickets, large amounts of additional money for parking and concessions, as well as a great deal of time and energy. Most of these folks have already paid their for season tickets up front for the year, so they are much less likely to cut off their noses just to spite their faces by not attending when they’ve already paid so much money. Not to mention, these people often have had the same seats for multiple generations and paid for season ticket rights.

And ticket sales are not even where the NFL makes most of its money or even where most of the fans are. Most of the fans watch on TV for essentially free, and most of the NFL money comes from billions of dollars paid in multi-year, up front contract bids from the major networks, who in turn recoup their bid money via advertising sales. It is only this latter group of fans where actual, REAL numbers exist that show their diminished interest, namely the Nielsen and similar ratings of broadcast games, and this is the group the NFL is worried about right now.

No one will know what current season ticket holders will do until next year’s season tickets are up for sale.

Am I a Stadium Half-Full or Stadium Half-Empty kind of gal? Hmmm...

Both sound good to me; the only thing that sounds better is Fully Empty!

The problem for the NFL is and this a truism for all of business is that losing a customer makes it very difficult to win them back. The NFL has some advantages in that it has a monopoly on pro football in the USA. It doesn’t however have a monopoly on leisure time and discretionary spending. There are lots and lots of other alternatives and that is where the NFL is quite vulnerable. Fans who have given up watching or going to games may get used to not doing the NFL and then it becomes extremely difficult to win them back. Football widows must be wondering how this all came about but I am sure many are happy.

I am an ex college athlete, who is 60 years old. In all my life top to bottom, these are the worst NFL teams I’ve ever seen in my life by far. That along with the kneeling BS is killing the number of fans.

The quality of play sucks. Meanwhile baseball (my sport) is gaining.

I didn’t know that it needed “gaining”———I thought that it was always very popular.
