McCain in Twilight: An Unfettered Voice Against Trumpism
MSN / NYTimes ^ | October 21, 2017

WASHINGTON — Senator John McCain, the sometimes cantankerous, often charming and eternally irrepressible Republican from Arizona, has never minced words. But in the twilight of a long and storied career, as he fights a virulent form of brain cancer, the 81-year-old senator has found a new voice..

In twin speeches — one in July, where he issued a call to bipartisanship in the Senate, and another in Philadelphia this past week, where he railed against “half-baked, spurious nationalism” — Mr. McCain has taken on both his colleagues and President Trump. In the process, his friends and fellow senators say, he has carved out a new role for himself on Capitol Hill: elder statesman and truth-teller.

“Even if John were not ill, with his experience and age, there is a part of you that I think begins to focus on your legacy,” said former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., a close friend of Mr. McCain’s. But with cancer, Mr. Biden said, “he’s in the fight of his life, and he knows it.”

#FakeNews. When McCain was the weak opposition running against the junior senator allegedly from Hawaii, he was an out of touch racist. Now that he’s throwing a toddler tantrum and opposing conservative progress, he’s a hero. Journalists lie. The entire Left disgusts me.

This is how they keep McCain fired up to fight Trump. McCain has a compulsive need for media praise. Ever since they first started calling him a maverick, he’s craved positive Leftist press to an unnatural degree. It drives him.

McCain will read this article as if he’s achieved nirvana/seventh heaven. But immediately the fix will wear off and he’ll need another hit. So he’ll attack Trump until a big time Leftist rag, such as the NYT, strokes his big but needy ego once again.

No matter what anyone thinks of Obama's presidency, there are two things we should be thankful for.

1. He prevented President Hillary Clinton.

2. He prevented President McCain.

No kidding - pissing on his grave is numero uno on my bucket list. If I could get close to him while he is still standing, it would be better but I have no hope of that.

1. He prevented President Hillary Clinton. 2. He prevented President McCain.

1. He was about the same as Shrillary would have been

2. He was worse than McCain would have been.

Gotterdammerung, or Ragnorok (Old Norse, "Twilight of the Gods") is now playing out around John McCain. Unable to stop his personal demise, he can only strive to pull what remains down around the heads of others.

Much like "Après moi, le déluge" ("After me, the deluge"), attributed to the King of France Louis XV.

John McCain continues to have an unaccountably high opinion of himself.

McCain won’t die of brain cancer. You heard the man speak? He has no brain; ergo, nothing to infect.

... Sickening propaganda.

CHARMING? When was McCain ever CHARMING? The SOB probably wasn’t even charming when he was a little kid.

(The internet is the invention the elites would have killed in the crib if they knew how easy it would be for the average Joe to research stuff and fact-check for themselves. Makes it damn awkward for the elites.)

Nobody really *knew*, but a few had some insight. The small government types saw the possibility much more than the establishment, because they saw bias in the establishment media.

But no one *knew* until the Republican revolution in 1994. The elite and establishment media were dumbfounded. This was not supposed to be possible.

Then the media doubled down and became actively, knowingly repressive and propagandistic. Any attempt at objectivity was gone. They *had* to defend their long, slow “revolution” against the masses.

It took 20 years for the mass of people to see the deception, but the Obama years finally did it.

IMO, the advent of Fox News (1996) was the spark that ignited the MSM self-immolation.

The presentation of the center-right point of view to the general public gradually drove them into a frenzy because they could no longer control the narrative. It caused them to double-down over and over until they no longer even bother with appearing “objective”.

It’s been an eye-opening experience.

Sometimes referred to as “Songbird” I wonder if the good senator would consider setting ALL the cards on the table regarding his role in the Keating 5

Probably not.
