Actress Reese Witherspoon has revealed that she was sexually assaulted by a director when she was 16 years old, the latest in a series of claims about abuse in the film industry.

“This has been a really hard week for women in Hollywood, for women all over the world, and a lot of situations and a lot of industries are forced to remember and relive a lot of ugly truths,” Witherspoon said at an event in Beverley Hills this week.

“I have my own experiences that have come back to me very vividly and I find it really hard to sleep, hard to think, hard to communicate a lot of the feelings that I’ve been having about anxiety, honestly, the guilt for not speaking up earlier.”

She divulged, “I have my own experiences that have come back to me very vividly and I find it really hard to sleep, hard to think, hard to communicate a lot of the feelings that I’ve been having about anxiety, honestly, the guilt for not speaking up earlier.” Witherspoon, who debuted on the silver screen at 15, continued, “[I feel] true disgust at the director who assaulted me when I was 16 years old and anger at the agents and the producers who made me feel that silence was a condition of my employment.”

The Academy Award-winning actress went on to claim that the incident was just one of a number of times she had been sexually abused throughout her career. “I wish that I could tell you that was an isolated incident in my career, but sadly it wasn’t,” she said. “I’ve had multiple experiences of harassment and sexual assault and I don’t speak about them very often.

If she was 16, it was probably filmed in 1992 and released in 1993, so I would guess either the director of “Jack the Bear” or “A Far Off Place” may be the one she is alluding to.

I dont see anyone saying exactly that. Do you remember some years back when there was a time period, I want to say it was triggered by some high profile case but cant remember which one, where it seemed that every 20yo in the country "suddenly remembered" being molested by their parents. It was some kind of stupid attention getting trend. It was vaguely like the "allergy" trend where suddenly everyone suddenly was allergic to half a dozen things. Im certainly not saying that incest and allergies arent real. I just dont tend to believe people when something becomes trendy then suddenly they remember they are one too.

Im an expert on all of this and you have to believe me because I just remembered that Im a lesbian trapped in a mans body awaiting my species change operation because I self identify as a platypus.

I’m thinking if it was filmed in 1992, it probably wasn’t released until 1993. It takes a while after primary filming ends for editing, reshoots, etc.

What better place for a pervie director that likes young girls to work than for Disney?

She later did SWEET HOME ALABAMA with Tennant, so cross him off the list. Perhaps it is a director with whom she did not work after she was assaulted.

Please name one that you know of where most of the top female staff of that industry have all been raped or groped.

Where does your weird obsession with only the top names come from?
I know you identify with the one percenters or you wouldn’t have posted that, but really.

I know quite a few models.
The modeling industry is rife with this.

I asked you to name another industry where the the top female employees had been sexually abused.

You named one.

I guess based on that you think Reese was right, there a lot of industries where the top female employees have been raped and or sexually abused.

I don't buy into that nonsense. I doubt that makes me a one percenter. I'm fairly sure it makes you one.

“WHEN did this current hysteria/ accusations cycle begin? Who started it? What was THEIR motive??”

My theory:
1. It started a couple weeks ago.
2. PDJT started it.
3. Motive: Take down Hollywood, providing a back door to taking down Clintons, Obama, Pizza people, etc. Two birds; one stone.

There are some actresses who never seemed to make it big despite being talented. Maybe they refused the casting couch.

Would this have been sexual assault had Harvey been Ron Jeremy?

Absolutely you are a ine pecenter.

Both of yiur posts indicate this isn’t a problem if its just the lesser known peole in the industry. One percenter is who hou are.

And you can’t even keep your mind focused on what she actually said. She didn’t say all other industries are as bad as acting, she said two specific industries are as bad as acting.

Are you going to start redefining words next? That would line up precisely with the style of debate you are demonstrating.

I addressed the top female employees, but in the movie industry those are the people coming forward.

The elites of the industry are coming forward to say they were raped or sexually abused.

Sorry you didn’t realize that.

Reese cast her net across a lot of other industries.

I addressed the elite women in those industries to draw a comparison.

Why am I having to explain something to you, that you should have been able to discern for yourself?

Unfortunately, Witherspoon did not say it was a director of a movie she was actually IN.

This gives her the ability to deny accusing any specific person.

And it gives the director the ability to sue anyone making a detailed accusation.

Beware the anonymous accusation trap - it can and will be used to punish those who were never involved. (IMO)

For the third time, this is what she said.

This has been a really hard week for women in Hollywood, for women all over the world, and a lot of situations and a lot of industries are forced to remember and relive a lot of ugly truths, Witherspoon said at an event in Beverley Hills this week.

You are one dense individual.

Do we have low level bit part players in Hollywood coming out saying they were abused? No.

For the most part we are talking about a list leading actresses.

I asked you what other industry you knew where the top female employees were being abused, because I wanted to be comparative, using the same metrics as the industry we are addressing.

Your attempt to cast me as someone who doesn't care if lesser people are abused, was just plain moronic. You thought you wouldn't be called on that?

You are an ass.

I take it back. You are a 0.01% percent nut job.

Yeah but President Trump is a pig who is destroying America and the clean and wholesome people in Hollywierd, like the pedophile who assaulted her!

Guys like Mike Pence’s morals are symbols of hate, bigotry and homophobia and at least Witherspoon’s molester would never believe in Christian morals as Pence does!

The “Sleep your way to the top” game has been going on for a long time. I suspect I saw it a few times at my old job.

However, I can also so that wasn’t a quid pro quo arrangement. The relationship started first, and the benefits followed.

I know more than a few.. well woman engineers, who not only don’t play that game, we be hard pressed to even THINK of playing that game. Hence why I had three twenty some year old women engineers in my office. They were not worried about me, and I had to keep telling them to leave certain topics of discussion out.

Not saying it hasn’t happened, or that it doesn’t, but there are very strict laws and rules in place. Those rules are in place for a reason

In your own comments, you provide the proof what I am saying is true.

There are procedures in place to prevent abuses. Most industries are not like the movie industry.

It would be absurd to state no sexual abuse takes place, but in the normal private sector, I do not believe the top female employees have had to sleep their way to the top.

It’s may take they earn those positions.

Yes, I hear you. And thank you.

Additionally a couple notes:

1st; regarding commercials, I see these when I visit my mother and at other’s homes. If these commercials, particularly insurance company commercials, are indicative of the educational level of Americans, we are doomed.

I do not equate foolishness with comedy, this foolishness is a sad commentary at best.

2nd; just because you can do something, does not mean you should. (I am sure most have heard this before) and where is it written that I must assist or cater to another’s belief or needs, simply because they exist.

Courtesy is given, but respect is earned.

I do not simply respect/defer to an individual because they are elected or appointed to a position. They must show some worth.

And it is ludicrous to extend respect/deferment to offices or furniture such as benches. Every human is an individual and one size does not fit all.

In closing I must admit I do miss the occasional Dr Pepper.
