Unwired DC power?

My brother believes J.D. Rockefeller pulled the plug on this Tesla idea, when he learned there would be no way to bill for its use.....

Well, they were/are bankrupt and the electrical grid was junk.

To build a new grid will take many months/years.

I do not think solar panels are the answer, but might as well build some small scale experimental installs

Pure bull Obama.
Real news is Trump is doing very much for PR.
Second real news is that much of the funds Musk is using came from Trump’s coffers (thanks to Dorkbama) in the way of subsidies.

What, the POTUS is only keeping 15,000 military troops and FEMA workers down there to maintain order, sustain humanitarian aid, and clear the way for private enterprise to personally build new infrastructure?

Obviously he hates brown people

Tesla Powerwall battery packs were spotted at San Juan airport on the island over the weekend.

To be distributed to the Democrat party faithful, no doubt.

Electric cars? Electric golf carts are enough of a pain in the ass when the batteries go dead on the 13th fairway which is farthest from the clubhouse.

Trump sent FEMA and other government resources. If the job is not getting done then it is a failure of their beloved government.

Rebuilding the power grid which was destroyed will take many months to get critical infrastructure back up and several years to get much of the lower priority {residential} portion back up.

It has nothing to do with Trump. It has to do with how fast poles can be set, cables and cross arms attached, and transformers placed back on poles. I have three poles on my driveway with a single feeder. It took my utility company with two trucks the better part of a day to set them 26 years ago. When lines are made hot work will go even slower due to safety precautions.

The fool reporters and other critics who know nothing about how a power grid works believe it can be done overnight. Inside the CONUS it can be done somewhat faster because of Mutual Aid Agreements where a utility will send one or two crew to a hit area with a Bucket Truck and pole truck bringing poles. Multiply that by a hundred or more utilities and it makes things go faster.

New poles, transformers, likely some new substations and cable will have to be delivered and likely manufactured first in the CONUS. McGraw Edison Co aka Cooper Industries used to make utility transformers I'm not sure if they still do or how many other companies manufacture them. I know McGraw Edison did back in the 1980's because I hauled them from their plants to the local utilities.

Musk may possibly be able to help residences with limited power. But what about the safety of the building, codes, etc? It has to be done right or a bigger disaster awaits. But it will take getting the power grid back up for factories and hospitals. The reporters and critics don't grasp why this must happen first neither nor the magnitude of the task involved.

The VA hospital in Houston spent a lot of money building covers over the parking areas. I realized today they’re solar panels.

According to NPR, of all people, much-needed supplies are either in Puerto Rico or on the way, officials say, but the island’s governor acknowledges that they can’t deliver fuel and other material quickly enough. Frustrated residents face long lines for fuel, as millions of people have gone nearly a week without power.

“We need resources and security. We need a quicker logistical deployment,” Gov. Ricardo Rossello told NPR’s Mary Louise Kelly on Tuesday. “You know, the gas and fuel issue is not a matter of how much do we have — it’s a matter of how we can distribute it.”

So, in other words, the US is getting it there, but they are failing to distribute it. So, as usual from the media, they are saying that Trump is to blame for Puerto Rico’s inability to get it done by their own admittance over an ultra-liberal media site. It shouldn’t get any clearer than that.
