If Texans left Texas, just got up and walked out, didn't take anything with them...

In 5 years (or less) Mexicans would be swimming the Red River to escape Sewerdad Wichita Falls for a "better life" in OK.

Funny, I always tell liberals who smugly proclaim the American Southwest was stolen from Mexico: Even if that were true the current tragedy would be all the illegals jumping to the north of the Colorado border for freedom.

Mexico has quite a lot of resources, but they have chosen to live in a Hispanic serfdom, that maintains a gross corruption of the market freedoms that we take for granted. Bribery, monopoly, extortion, murderous drug armies, and corrupt officials who live for the mordida and forsake their charges, have been the ugly quotidian fare since their beginning. Mexico has created virtual slaves of its citizens whose only alternative is to defy death, robbery and rape, and swim across rivers and run through deserts to a place that can only be called Paradise compared from where they have come.

Yet this is never talked about. Instead we have to listen to lectures by Vincente Fox on our so-called immorality by canceling DACA, or even more hypocritical - our gun violence. (Mexico has seen more civilians die in the last 20 years of drug wars than all the US servicemen lost in Vietnam). Our media does not extol the exceptionalism of the United States, they, like Obama, tend to denigrate the nation and focus on anything negative in its history. Yet part of this problem can be solved by constantly and robustfully describing to the world what is wrong with Mexico, rather than talking about how cruel Trump is for enforcing our immigration laws. Mexico needs to change, not America. If they do what we do, maybe they can increase their national wealth, and foster better lives for its citizens.

The earliest written use of the pejorative term “wetback” was in the early 1920’s, by none other than the NY Times. Without an internet, or high speed media, new terms moved slowly so it is safe to assume the slur was extant for decades prior. This fact only illuminates the long term nature of this problem, it is hopelessly centuries long. It demonstrates the exploitive culture that enforced and prolonged Mexican poverty, and created lower than subsistence level living for its peasants to maintain the wealth of the few families who controlled the means of production. For over one hundred years, these slaves have been escaping to the land of freedom, to the land of milk and honey, to the greatest nation on Earth, through boom and bust, through war and famine, America has provided a glorious haven so that their hungry can eat, thrive and make their own lives. Done so in their own faith, in their own community, as Americans.

So Vincente Fox, you can go FYS, you scumbag.

Too late. They are already here and still marching North and East.
