It is a UK tradition now, but it wasn’t “a tradition” then. It started in the UK not earlier than 1908, and the Boy Scouts of America was founded in 1910.

BSA like the GSA before it is diving headfirst into irrelevance. BSA can put whatever spin it wants on it, but its recent strategic decisions have caused it to lose members. This is an attempt to poach members from GSA to stay afloat. In the long run, it probably won’t work. The LDS, which has been hugely supportive of BSA has bailed in favor of their own programs. Christians have been migrating to American Heritage Girls and Trail Life USA in droves and this will further accelerate the trend.
In the end an organization has to have some unifying reason to exist. Once you’ve cast out that reason it’s not long before the organization goes the way of the dodo.
That was my take — I don’t think having girls enter the Scouting program is a problem on its face. Admitting active homosexuals and the “transgendered” (regardless of whether they “identified as female” but could join as biological males or they were biological females who “identified as male”) WAS a huge problem and marks the beginning of the end of Scouting as we recognize it.
That said, now that the BSA has already taken a deep drink at the fetid cesspool of “Gender Identity” and other forms of unnatural sexuality, I fear its too late. All of the other problematic decisions will be further amplified by this one.
Trail life is a good organization. There are other choices, too.

It isn’t just the co-ed. It is Scout leadership caving to the liberal bullies with every successive demand. First homosexuals, now girls. Next up, you have to inject social justice into everything as Girl Scouts already do.
They should have paid attention to Scouting in Canada. After surrendering to liberal bullies, their numbers fell to less than 20% of its prior enrollment.
Too busy letting Planned Parenthood give girls’ empowerment lectures. Getting close to nature became “let’s make environmentalist posters”.
It didn’t help that the organization decided that stay at home mothers were bad role models so should be discouraged from any leadership position, drumming out many good leaders with TIME.
Girls want to camp, trek, climb, shoot carry knives, build fires and earn badges in nature lore and science just like the boys and take on Eagle projects to earn those scholarships because equivalent outdoor , civic, service and leadership development programs have become scarce, weak or are nonexistent in GS
Everyone knows that only boys and men should have them because if teenage girls handle a 12 day Philmont trek and complete an Eagle award it means men are weak
Next thing you know they'll be demanding to fly combat jets, fight wars, become astronauts, maybe even to vote - now there's some social,justice

It is not girls wanting to be in the rough camping activities.
It is the destruction of sex segregation for men and injecting mentally ill men into women’s spaces because liberals think men are inherently bad (toxic masculinity) and women are better by their gender ... while simultaneously thinking that the sexes are interchangeable in every regard.
Yes, I know, consistency is lacking because liberal are rarely conscientious - and the emotional reasoning they raise to a virtue makes such inconsistencies irrelevant. Which maxim lets me win right now? Who is most upset? Use the section of dogma that lets the official victim win?
TLDR: the same people saying the Boy Scouts must take in girls say women must let mentally ill men with penises and say they are women into locker rooms, you’re a bigot if you don’t, but if women need safe spaces from men, they can exclude them because they’re so bad. But don’t you dare have boys’ only anything, that’s evil.

As a substitute teacher I had a young child complain about he was afraid he was GAY. I believe this was FIRST GRADE or SECOND GRADE, but this is really bad.
Our schools in Louisiana are a BASKET CASE.
It is a sham. When I tried to be a 7th grade teacher, my principal gave me a class with basically 50 students.
But that was okay. This was a school where most students were extremely low socio-economic class
I had 11 SPED students as part of that. Normally there is a TA assigned for that.
I think that principal (just my conjecture) was trying to get back at men.
We need to address problems.
Mixing boys with girls is not a good idea.
At one time, schools were all boys or all girls.
The movie The Blackboard Jungle shows a school that is PUBLIC and all boys. Sidney Poitier has an interesting role in this Glen Ford/Anne Francis movie.
If adults cannot fix RACISM, then why should be mix boys and girls.
This is a recipe for disaster.
By the way, I sent an email (which I never heard back on) about my problems at Paul Breaux Middle School.
No response was ever given. I believe it has been over 2 years with no response. But I guess fixing problems is not anything is worried about as long as they get their paychecks.
As Vince Scully once said about an ADMIRAL who damaged the battleship USS MISSOURI: "You don't pay them the big bucks for nothing" or something to that effect. It was during a Los Angeles Dodgers game.
So maybe some people who have a great deal of responsibility should be fired if they are not doing their job.
The previous Superintendent of the Lafayette Parish School System was fired.
Our children apparently are UNIMPORTANT to some folks. They are more interested in POWER and MONEY than doing the right thing.

When I worked on a DOD project back at GE, a female manager was betting on the stock market using INSIDE information.

GE no longer has business in that area. Lockheed Martin owns it.
