Vice President Mike Pence left Sunday's National Football League game between the Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers after several 49ers took a knee during the playing of the national anthem.
'I left today’s Colts game because President Trump and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem,' Pence said in a statement that the White House quickly pushed out to reporters.
Soon after Pence exited the game, Trump took credit for it being his idea.
'I asked @VP Pence to leave stadium if any players kneeled, disrespecting our country. I am proud of him and @SecondLady Karen,' Trump wrote on Twitter.
With his swift stadium exit, Pence reignited the fight between the administration and the NFL that had quieted down in recent days, replaced in the news cycle by the hurricane in Puerto Rico and the shooting in Las Vegas, along with Trump's high-profile tiffs with his Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., who the president knocked on Twitter today.

I am a retired Army Officer. Who is that General Officer next to Pence not saluting or putting his hand over his heart? Is he typical of the new Army? He should be reprimanded, lead by example General or get out of the way!!!

The liberal view if this appears to be, that Mike Pence is doing this as a publicity stunt. The liberals on other sites are expressing their usual mock outrage.
And as is normal for them, they are criticizing Pence for his actions, without regard to the underlying protests which triggered the action.
Apparently it’s an indoor stadium as the officer is not wearing a cover. Under such circumstances it is appropriate to stand at attention and face the flag (or the music if no flag is present).

When the issue is respect to the flag and he is with the VP, he better salute or put his hand over his heart. Veterans are encouraged at these events to salute and I always do indoor or out.
Actually the Colts were 1-3 going into the game, but spot-on otherwise.

He’s not a veteran he’s an active duty officer who knows that while indoors and unarmed he renders honor to the flag by standing at attention and facing the flag.
