In an interview with The Star on Friday, Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters made it clear that while hes under no obligation to explain why he sits during the national anthem, he thinks those whove heckled him and posted angry messages on social media have him all wrong. He also made it clear that he cant worry about how he is perceived.
In a conversation that was quintessential Peters honest, blunt, unapologetic he spoke about his ongoing protest for the first time since September 2016.
I aint trying to get into a back and forth conversation of me trying to prove that Im not being disrespectful or that I am being disrespectful toward the American flag, Peters explained as he sat at his locker. Man come on, man. Im an American, bruh. Im an African-American that was born in this wonderful country that we all can live in. How about we start all protecting each (expletive) other and come together, you feel me? It will be better for it.
Peters comments, with a handful of teammates looking on, came at the end of one of the most controversial weeks of his short NFL career.
After sitting on the bench during the anthem on Monday before the Chiefs beat Washington 29-20 on national TV, Peters night included giving up two touchdowns a rarity for the two-time All-Pro and cursing at a heckling fan.
Since then, Peters, 24, has taken note of the steady stream of criticism he has received. He also has grown tired of fielding questions about his anthem protest.

Then act like one!
they need a minimum IQ requirement in the NFL, . . .
if that’s done there won’t be an NFL.
Spork that squirming shiftless weasel.
If he is an Amerikan, he is a lying Amerikan.
Further proof football players can be rather dim bulbs. But some are smart enough to not try and put their employers out of business.
That would be the one you crap on every Sunday!!
He’s African first.
American is way down the list of things he thinks he is.
Sounds like he’s feeling the Heat
Before reading it, I knew there would be a - thrown in there.
To be fair, most NFL employers have encouraged their employees to put them out of business.
Hey,
Senore’ Peters,
Stick it up your wazoo, dil weed
We be done with you and your sorry compadres
You ASSHOLES cooked the goose.
Go blow it out your ass and tell the nfl and its collection of thugs to eat pooh and die
Rather play mumbly peg than give you and your unAmerican boys a minute.
He speaks like an idiot. What a surprise.

I assume this guy never went beyond 8th grade.

These illiterate, overpaid punks are deliberately distorting this...thinking that we'll be fooled.
Nobody is suggesting that any laws are broken when one sits during the National Anthem. In the *highly* unlikely event that a cop or any other government official/agent demands an explanation Peters could rightfully tell that cop/official/agent to go fornicate himself.
OTOH,I am just as much within my rights to refuse to explain to anybody,*including Peters*,why I choose to tune out the NFL,refuse to attend games, refuse to buy official NFL items and boycott sponsors of NFL games.
Hope that doesn't confuse you,Mr Peters...I know I've used several multi-syllabic words.
If you insist on having a public protest but refuse to explain what you are protesting, it turns out you are just being an a-hole.
“Im an American: Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters breaks silence on protests”
that’s good, marcus, because otherwise you should have been already been deported back to whatever your native country is ...
Being an American does not imbue one with a patriotic character-that must still be earned, and it can still be betrayed.
