Some people have more money than brains. Hey dimwits, look at the ratings and attendance... they already are leaving.
Rubicon crosses?
In other words ... its one thing to threaten your lover with 'I'm leaving if you don't change this or that'.
It's entirely another to just not be horny for her. This isn't a boycott, or a political statement. This is falling out of love.
The NFL is close to...if not already past, the “point of no return”. That’s when it’s further to go back, and than to complete your original journey.
They’ve “jumped the shark”, with no graceful, or successful way to get off without getting devoured.
It takes a lot of “atta boys”, to overcome one “oh shit”.
They are up against the ropes. You do not let up and back off punching until they go down!
The NFL suicided itself last week.
It could had salvaged it last Monday night, but instead the entire Cowboys team did the kneeling. That sent a very negative message to the country that gave them so much.
The NFL politicized the sport thanks to @sshole number one Roger Goodell.
It will never be the same again. Much like our country after September 11th, 2001.
Sure there will still be fans but overtime (10 years from now) they will slowly fade away.
I suspect they probably lost around 25% of their entire fan base, and I expect that to grow over time. This is because most of their fans were were conservatives. I would be willing to bet before Kaepernick that about 90% of Trump supporters watched the NFL. Well the NFL just pi$$ed off a good chunk of them and many veterans too. What they did last week was a slap in the face to the country that was so good to them.
I was born a Packers fan. I watched the Ice Bowl live on a black & white TV when I was a little boy. I suffered through all the lame years with Randy Wright, Lynn Dickey, Tony Mandarich, Charles White and other unmentionables.
I am done. I have a black sackcloth over my Packers themed mailbox.
Just looked for 9’ers and Raiders tix.
Pretty good prices less than 20 seats from the field.
Still not going, not watching either.
I will be at the rodeo in the Cow Palace though...
Be afraid....be very afraid.
The NFL put their organization into the hands of a half-wit son of a crypto-commie senator. As with every other issue he’s handled, I expect Goodell will run the NFL into the ditch on this kneeling hogwash. The owners deserve it.
Too bad they didn’t ‘fret’ over their players disrespecting the flag.
Don’t the owners have decent families to remind tgem of their moral compass when they get out of line?
I keep hearing commentators rave about the skill level of NFL players. When skill level is exalted over everything else, this is what happens.
We all go to high school football games and are much interested in the outcomes. Same with college. The athletes are not the best, but what we all appreciate and admire is how they play with heart and passion.
When we exalt athletes who play with heart, we won’t be
overly impressed with a skilled but vile athlete who gets down on all fours in the end zone and imitates a dog urinating to disrespect the president.
69 years as an Eagles fan
Listened on the radio in 48 and 49 when they won the NFL titles
Went to preseason camp at Hershey and Albright and PMC
Love of the Eagles has been ingrained in my DNA
But these last 2 weeks were the proverbial straw
Owner Tose has allowed Bleeping Malcom Jenkins to kneel for 2 seasons
And the rest of the league is just as bad
Its over
NFL No F’n Longer
Even my 6yo grandson thought they were being rude.
Never going to watch football again in this home.
I wait and see what the Hockey league does, now.
So, Mike Florio, respecting the military and the flag is pandering?
Yeah, you and the horse you rode in on.
Well it is a big thing to change a lifestyle. I have chosen, after being a follower since about 1964, to no longer have anything to do with the No Flag Love League.
I have been a Miami Dolphin fan since they started in 1966. I have hosted super bowl parties in my home ... but no more.
Some things which have brought this to a head:
1. I totally disagree with cities and counties using tax money to pay for billionaires arenas.
2, I disagree with teams that paid for stadiums having their team yanked away from them on an owners whim. (Houston Oilers, Baltimore Colts, LA Rams, St Louis Rams, St. Louis Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, LA Raiders, SD Chargers and so on.)
3. Replay has become ridiculous ... the umps and refs can no longer be relied on for a call ... we need to review and re-review, ad nauseum.
4. We go to commercial. Then there is a kick-off. THEN, ANOTHER COMMERCIAL! Enough said.
5. Pink shoes and armbands.
6. Players who are thugs to women and others ... and are treated like theyre victims.
7. And now ... the final straw. Not honoring the flag, pledge or anthem, for some reason that they cant even articulate (at least, beyond because of Trump)
So, enough is enough! And to whatever degree possible, I will avoid doing business with the major sponsors.
I doubt that I will have any real effect on a multi-billion dollar business, but I feel better having taken this stand.
The rules committee has legislated the fun out of the game. The networks have somehow decided that NFL games are appropriate places for their commentators to wax politic (Anyone want Bob Costas' opinion?). Domestic violence. Criminal acts the perp just walks from with a slap on the wrist. There have been NFL millionaires involved in drug trafficking!! Why??
On the field, the quality of play has gone down, but the showboating and "celebrations" are at an all time high. Catch a pass for a first down? Jump up, get in the defender's face, and thrust your arm forward to signal that first down. Make sure EVERYONE sees you. Get a sack? Make sure you do your fist pump and raise your arms in the air. Make sure EVERYONE sees you. Disrespecting coaches on the sideline.
Hundreds of dollars for tickets in the after market. No chance of getting reasonably priced Super Bowl tickets. The price of anything at the stadium, including just freakin' parking.
Contract holdouts. Training camp holdouts. Injuries because you didn't go to training camp. Petulant interviews. These have all been going on for YEARS.
And NOW, you want to protest the playing of the National Anthem because of "injustice" or "police brutality against blacks" or "team unity".
FUNFL!
