Death threats and Goodell must have gotten to him..he said last week if his players EVER did this they would get their asses fired..now he joins them
It was pointed out to me that the quote from Jones about firing anthem protesters was single sourced and without any sort of verification.
Given his actions tonight, I don’t believe he ever said it.
What is really going on here is the NFL is lead by a progressive, they have surrounded themselves with like minded progs in suits and they either can’t fathom the reaction from Joe Sixpack because they’ve been in that echo chamber so long, or they are gambling that the fans will simply boo a little and keep right on spending.
My guess is that it is a little of both, along with some pressure serious pressure from NFL HQ to “toe the line so we can weather this together”.
The first NFL suit to publicly break with the current suicidal NFL policy is going to get fired before any protesting players do.
