Check the article — The owner linked arms with players who were standing, not kneeling.
Afraid to honor our country and those that died so that they might be free to participate in football.
The NFL is running “unity” ads based on the antics in London. Wow. Goodell has always been an AH. Now add ignorant to that descriptor. This also shows what happens when employees become too powerful and don’t feel directly the results of their actions. The owners figure the immediate financial impact will be short lived if they cave. Unfortunately for them once the genie is out it is all over. Next month they will probably agree to forego the Anthem and have groups with Tom toms.

They disrespected ours and STOOD for “God Save the Queen”.
My bet is this spreads all the way down to grade school...in fact there was already a kid somewhere who did this in imitation.
The PTB are smug. They believe the populace is addicted to entertainment. Only a small fraction will stop watching and a smaller fraction will stop consuming anything at all.
Sending a message is going to mean going through withdrawal. NO sports. NO standup. NO cable, broadcast or sat subscriptions. Pick and choose with a streaming device. Download indie authors on Kindle, et al or read the older novels being re-released. Pick and choose on Netflicks/Amazon/Hulu, etc. Or rent DVDs on RedBox. Read paper books, cheap at HPBmarketplace.com, usually $5 with shipping on most novels 2 years old or older. Thrift store novels are a quarter to fifty cents each. DVDs at the same store are a dollar.
Instead of concerts, do something else. Don’t watch charity or award events. They want Resistance? Give it to them.
I’ve even stopped listening to radio unless I’m working and need distraction and then I time it to Rush. When I have no shop work, I read the Rush transcripts here on FR. Long road trips? Order something w/o propaganda from Audible or find other books on disc somewhere. Play your own CDs.
Yeah, yeah, I know: soccer is still ok and so is hockey. Spouse refuses to give up the FNC or hospital drama or cooking/decorating shows. IMO, these are all presented and owned by the same types of liberal (see Boudain or Ramsey). YMMV, of course.
I have no opinion on video games as I don’t play them. Gamers can fill us in.
Point is: turn your back on all entertainment and media. Learn a craft. Try art. Make your own music. Rehab your home. Organize local amateur sports. Invent your own recipes and perfect them. There are countless ways to actively stay occupied.
Most people have maybe 4 hours of leisure/day, maybe more on the weekend. How relaxing/educational or entertaining is it when every presentation is an insult from a condescending ahole?
The problem these professional sports teams face is that they have almost no hard assets of any value. Take away the NFL's TV and merchandising contracts, and most NFL teams probably have a net worth of almost $0.
“Powerful statement” of what? Do these guys even know what they’re protesting?
It’s just trendy leftyism, which makes them feel super-cool and in with the in crowd.
And actually, what they’re protesting is Trump, so this makes them feel even cooler and more aligned with the REAL political giants of this country, Hollywood starlets...
"Who doesn't want to take the knee?"
Thank you, that is a good summary of options.
As as student, Bill Clinton led demonstrations there in which our flag was burned.
“Ya I was going to say, isnt Khan a foreigner? Is he an American citizen?”
Khan became a US citizen in 1991. He is Sunni Muslim.
It would be interesting to do an accounting “balance sheet” of NFL teams. Yes, good question, what tangible assets, what net worth do they have?
Do any teams own their stadiums? If so, then there is a tangible asset. Otherwise, what else is there? I think for accounting purposes, the player contracts are “prepaid assets” and the expense is amortized over the years the contracts run for.
Any accounting Freepers out there who can comment, please do. I think the net worth of the teams are based on the expected income, expected future value of TV contracts and ticket sales and such. Someone who knows more, please weigh in.
Jacksonville, Dallas, Green Bay. Any others?
“”Khan, who donated $1 million to Trump’s presidential campaign, declined to make a public statement of his own.
Instead, he referred to a Jaguars spokesperson:
“”Commissioner Goodell’s statement speaks for Mr. Khan and the Jaguars.””
I don’t know which story we’re supposed to believe - he stood with players in unity OR the above by the team spokesperson....We know what Goodell had to say but couldn’t Kahn have spoken for himself or afraid of upsetting the applecart?
I’m sure most teams don’t own their stadiums. I think the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots built their own venues, while others may have shared-ownership arrangements or long-term leases with a city or economic development authority.
hey genius, Kahn is standing up for America and the anthem
