In the Old Testament we do read that God allowed droughts, pestilence, earth shakings, famines and such events when His people were rebellious to Him. The question is does every such event come from Him as a form of punishment? I think probably not but He allows it for His purposes both natural and spiritual.

Widget, I’ve been here since 2000 and I too get sick of seeing potentially interesting threads hijacked by people who think they are comedians or by people with religious obsessions. However, the best thing to do is ignore them.

Sadly they do not see with spiritual eyes. Look up!
I was looking at the USGS site last night and was very surprised at not a single earthquake before or after the 7.1. Very odd. Now the USGS filters smaller non-US quakes, but the silence is, from an observer, very odd. How unusual is this?

But I do not understand why the Almighty would destroy a city in a country that is pretty heavily skewed to the Christian side of the street.
If he is doing this because “man has sinned”, I would ask you why the Almighty Lord would not smite Las Vegas? My guess is there is more sinning per capita in Vegas than MC.
And...lets not forget, Mexico is full of volcanoes and fault zones.
What is pretty easily explained by geology sounds more dramatic if you toss in a God who lets hundreds of thousands die every month from disease, hunger, and war.
I tend to go with the more obvious answer.
But I also agree, those rules are good to live by. It keeps you from getting shot by someone else’s husband. And the gay thing is a non starter in my household.
