I attended the 1992 NAB convention and videotaped the induction of the Star Trek main characters into the NAB Hall of Fame. This is just that part of the ceremony. Handheld. Don't think any other fans were there, and doubt this ceremony has ever seen the light of day before.

I liked DeForest threatening to bop Leonard Nimoy with his award. I’ve heard Kelley recite that whole poem and don’t have any copy of that, so getting just these few lines was wonderful.
I made my husband get in line an hour early to get a good videotaping spot. We were the only people in line for the whole hour. This was not a convention of fans.

This video made me smile. There are a bunch of grandchildren of these three men that need to see this. It will make them happy.
I hope they do see it. Kelley never had children. That’s why his charities were always no-kill animal shelters. He had a wonderful story of stopping NYC traffic to find his escaped bird under a parked car.
The original series stories are good even today.
Too bad about the pending PC catastrophe of Star Trek Discovery (aka STD)

Much appreciated, Rastus. I’m more involved with the Trek vidding community and don’t really know anything outside of Livejournal. I have been waiting for DECADES to be able to deal with this video. I took the IBM Hi-8 camera from the lab because I also shot the NAB exhibits and then only had a personal player that played it as low-8. Kept intending to do something about all the Hi-8 footage I had and didn’t. So for just past birthday, husband got a used Hi-8 camcorder so we can see 25 year old footage and digitize what’s appropriate. This was the first to do, of course. I also have an entire box of NAB daily newspapers describing the event. As I mentioned, I doubt there was another fan there, so I probably have all the newspapers still in existence.
