Thank you $15 minimum wage... (/sarc)
There are Subways everywhere, in every strip mall, often at the far end where there is little foot traffic. Contemplating this, I think Subway’s business model is to be the place where all the people who work in those various strip mall stores take their lunch breaks.
About five years ago...some ex-Subway franchise owners starting about their experiences with the situation. Some had their operations seized (they were making profits and paying the franchise fees). Some complained about other Subway shops being put within their zone...something promised that would never happen.
I do occasionally stop and have one of their sandwiches. But if you laid out some opportunity to get into franchise ownership? No...this would not be where I’d park my money or waste my time trying to make my operation work.
A lot of people I know that keep their weight under control don’t eat much, if any, bread. And for all its good ingredients, Subway serves up that huge slab of bread.
I don’t know how anyone can eat any of the crap from that place. Whenever I pass the store in the mall it smells nasty. Plus the meat and cheese look gross and they put little on.
Subway’s $6 footlong special is a great deal but is likely loosing money.
We much prefer several local deli’s with far superior sandwiches, but when on the road, we will stop at Subway over any fast food burger. At least you know what you’re going to get.
Firehouse subs is hurting subway bigtime. Bad publicity didnt help I’m sure.
Did having a pedophile as their spokesman hurt their business?

Saving theor advertising dollars for when Jared returns?
Subway’s no better or worse than any of the other sandwich chains. More bread than toppings, but that’s par for the course. I suspect the Jared Whathisname thing hurt their image, but I also think that market is over-saturated.
I hope Subway gets it together and moves into the black. I like their sandwiches very much. I’m a vegetarian; so I don’t eat the meat, but I like everything else.
Subway is OK and a lot of times I prefer it to a burger, but if I’m near a Jersey Mike’s, that’s where I go.
I think they passed the point of sales growth covers low margins and need to adjust their margins to be more in line with little growth model.
I think it’s a really good product, but it’s the kind of thing I go after just once or twice a year.
Jersey Mikes and Firehouse Subs preferable. But I do like local Subway tuna sandwiches. They pile it on!
A Subway near my home recently closed. I was shocked when I noticed the closure because it was open for years.
