Even our U.S. presidents like to have an adult beverage every once in a while. In Mark Will-Webers book, Mint Juleps with Teddy Roosevelt: The Complete History of Presidential Drinking, he details every presidents favorite alcoholic beverage and explores the stories behind the drink. Will-Webers book also reveals the more human side of our nations leaders, which is important for us all to see from time to time.

What about Hussein’s Beer Summit? Panther Whizz !!!!
And meanwhile we have a President who’s never drank or used drugs.
Is that bad now?
Wasn’t George Washington at one time the biggest distiller in the country?
That is how Madeira is made today. In Adams day the "repeated heating process" was simply crossing the equator with the wine still in barrels.
What about Frank Roosevelt? What about Hussein?
I note that President McKinley liked cocktails that contained absinthe. Subsequently absinthe was made illegal in this country. Has that ban been lifted? I saw a TV documentary about how someone re-engineered absinthe to make it exactly the way it was originally produced. Now I am very curious to try some.
Just living life as an American Billionaire is probably enough of a high for The Donald. His regular day to day existence (even before becoming President) is spectacular enough. Trump worked for these things, may as well enjoy them.
Gold plated this, diamond encrusted that, tailored suits that look good and are actually comfortable. The shoes the fit like gloves! Cars, private planes, nice furniture.
Culinary School Grads for your personal cook, everything the latest model if you want it.
Finding the right woman who fits in, someone your adult children like, someone already accomplished and not desperate. Someone refined and graceful but with a sense of fun, sort of like The First Lady.
I looked him up. He liked gin-based martinis. Hussein liked beer, as did Garfield and Cleveland.

Yup. One of the funniest things I ever read was the booze tab from Washington’s second campaign for the House of Burgesses. Second, because he lost his first....
Delving into my vast experience with things I should probably have left alone.....
If and when you decide to drink Absinthe, do not believe the hype that it is simply another liquor, or has been rendered harmless by processing the Wormwood into obscurity.
And no matter what your tolerance for regular liquor, do not underestimate its effects. Have a driver, or do it at home.
You will find a comprehensive list here -

Some of these are only available in Europe, but many those available here are quite potent - just not those *produced* here.
I have (many years ago) had the experience of Reverie and Le Parroquet. Green Fairie indeed. (Hah!) More like the Id monster from Forbidden Planet.
But then each of us has his personal Demons.
You can now legally purchase absinthe in the US.
Now I am more curious than ever to try absinthe. And, yes, I WON’T drive afterwards. I do know it was incredibly popular in Paris towards the end of the 19th century.
