Preparing for the eclipse!!
self

Posted on 08/19/2017 12:06:21 PM PDT by djf

OK!

I am getting ready to drive the 200 miles or so south towards Salem/Eugene Oregon.

I figured it's also a good time to test my survival skills, somewhat lightly.

So far I have packed: three cans of Chef Boyardee, three cans of sardines, two cans of Dinty moore stew. Forks and knives and spoons as well. A garbage bag for the empty cans. My three cameras, well, two cell phones and an older Vivitar camera.

I have an extra gallon of gas in my trunk, plus oil and ATF.

Anything else? Any hints/tips?

So you are saying that Rev. 12 will take place on Sept. 23?

I will make a point of pinging you on the 24th. Maybe the 25th to give you time to sober up.

Hey djf, can I embarrass you for a second?

I want to take this opportunity to thank Mr. DJF.

Years ago he went out of his way pick up a tennis ball serving machine that I bought online for my dad. The city of Seattle was auctioning off some of its sports equipment and I found this killer deal on a tennis ball machine on their website. The catch was that you had to pick up the stuff at their warehouse.

So I bought this machine with literally seconds left in the auction without knowing how in the world I was going to get it shipped to Chattanooga Tennesse where my dad was.

That’s where djf came in. I posted an urgent request for FR help and he responded. He drove quite a distance to pick up this tennis ball machine. And then, once he had picked it up, he packed it up and shipped it to my dad.

My dad loved that machine as a gift and uses it to this very day. I just wanted to thank you again for your effort in making that happen.

Thank you, djf.

“My three cameras...”

Don’t forget that you must have special filters (neutral density) for the cameras or you’ll fry them.

Darn those typos. Should be “went out of his way TO pick up a tennis ball machine...”

How many will be playing Pink Floyd?

Fun fact re: the song "Eclipse":
Paul McCartney was one of the people interviewed by Waters as part of his efforts to develop dialogue to accompany certain songs on the album. His interview was not used, but Abbey Road Studios doorman Gerry O'Driscoll's was. His full answer to the question "What is 'the dark side of the moon'?", part of which is heard at 1:37 in "Eclipse", was: "There is no dark side of the moon, really. Matter of fact, it's all dark. The only thing that makes it look light is the sun.
