If someone were to express, and it became known at work, extreme views—I don’t care if it is BLM or KKK or otherwise; if they fly the Nazi, Islamic, or Confederate flag, I’d fire them without hesitation. As a company owner myself, I see absolutely nothing illegal about this. This is not a matter of discriminating against the usual suspects (gender, race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, etc.). Fly those flags, express those views, whether you act on them or not, you are fired. Period.

"...GoDaddy has also begun dropping web hosting services for websites that support "hate speech"..."

This is one of the reasons Jim Rob cites (and I believe for good reason) for using their own servers to host Free Republic instead of farming it out.

It is possible Free Republic might decrease costs and improve services by having them hosted, but they would be subject to the whims of a company that either won't stand up to being bullied by the left into dropping hosting, or is in active collusion with the left to eliminate opposing points of view.

They would certainly label Free Republic as "hate speech" simply because they disagree with much we post, and cannot refute it in the arena of logic and rhetoric. So they take the shortcut by default of trying to gag their opponents.

In the case of this particular issue, they would simply maintain that support of freedom of speech and freedom of assembly when it comes to some radical cause means that you support, and are part and parcel of that radical cause, and are therefore guilty of..."hate speech".

Free speech only stops government from doing anything. Private companies don’t have to put with bull crap from idiots. I wish some of you knew what the first amendment protected.

Defamation.

Kind of hard to claim that someone defamed you as a white supremacist when you're filmed at a white supremacist rally.

If I owned a business that catered to kids and one of my workers penned am op-ed to the local paper defending pedophilia, would I have to keep him employed and go broke as my customers make the wise decision to keep their kids away from the guy?

You said “Orwellian”, and that is spot on.

“Hate Speech” is intrinsically Orwellian. To liberals, that means anything they disagree with.

One person's extreme views may be the norm for someone else.

What if you had an employee who was very religious yet that person's religion was deemed hostile by society? Fire or keep?

Actions have consequences. Fire ‘em. Agreed. Zero tolerance for any of this BS. As a company owner, as a citizen with good moral and ethical values, we cannot do anything but fire them.

You are correct. What Amazon disallows:

Offensive Content. Content that is defamatory, obscene, abusive, invasive of privacy, or otherwise objectionable...

They give examples of child porn, etc but those are an incomplete list.
They may:
investigate violations of this Policy or misuse of the Services or AWS Site; or
remove, disable access to, or modify any content or resource that violates this Policy

I was more addressing your statement that he had a claim against his employer. As for the newspaper, he would have to prove malice and good luck with that. I would suggest he find an employer more in keeping with his political positions and get on with his life.
