I signed up after the 2000 election- saw the “Sore-Loserman” signs at the Naval Observatory, and looked up the site.
My name comes from a character in The Belgariad series of novels by David Eddings- He was born to be the protector of the main character, and would turn into a large bear whenever the boy was menaced (in the next series of novels, this turned out to be hereditary). Since I am a large, bearish type of guy, and was expecting my first (and only) child at the time, it seemed a good fit. Oh, and I’m a Texan :).
When Obama came along, I thought about changing it, but decided that I wasn’t changing anything for that guy.
I've seen your handle and wondered about that. Pretty sure I clicked on your home page once to see if your handle predated his election. Good on you for outlasting him.
